New Wishbones or SuperPro?

Featured Replies

Looking for peoples opinions on the matter

Also if go down the Superpro route does anyone out there have some old wishbones i can beg, borrow or give a little for, so i can pre prepare car before fitting the new bushes?

I know it cheeky but if you dont ask and all lol

Dave

Fit superpro's.

It will take you 5 mins to remove/drill the old bushes out.

10mins to press the new bushes in, then refit. No need for spare set of wishbones to prepare in advance.

Thanks, i just bought em, just wish i hadn't used bloody Powerflex before :wall: learnt the hard way with those.... Someone should warn people lol

I think both Powerflex or Superpro are a bad idea for wishbones bushes .

You can go for the TT solid ones at most.First you have a diesel and second if you don't have the other bushes made from poly(+harder suspension) the feeling of the car will be rubbish...very hard ride but still soft on the corners

Having a diesel will make NO difference to the wishbone bushes! How will it make the rest of the car feel rubbish, please explain? Plenty on here have run OEM springs/dampers with superpro bushes on the front (myself included many years ago)...

Steve

I already did.If you bind the front suspension in only one point(wishbone bush) and rest of them are normal(OEM) the feeling will be rubbish, bouncy

Harder bushes are not absorbing vibrations and crappy roads very good, they will transmit shocks, waves on the other "weaker" bushes, and the mechanical sterss is bigger.I'm sorry but is hard to explain this in a few posts,it took me months in school to learn. The whole suspension assembley must be balanced to work correctly.

And by the way is the reverse, then wishbone poly bush got snapped.

The best example is the dogbone mount...many of us (including myseft) got the big sandwich bush replaced with a poly one....very good but the round small bush won't last too much.Mine starting to wear, and it's less than 2 years old.....same thing on the front suspension

Why do you thing the car has rubber bushes anyway? insead of metal joints?

So ,2 options, you change all the bushes with more harder ,or leave them all alone

there are n other bushes to change.

never had a prob personally.

bushes are there for movment and absorbtion and metal ones wouldnt do either. so long as both bushes on the wishbnes are changed they are fine.

Seen bushes today, seem much better than PowerFlex crap.... Being fitted Thursday so will update how it feels, doing a 150 mile drive on lots of varied roads on saturday so should give them a good test

Following this with interest. Going To be replacing mine next month. Can't decide whether to go with superpro or the tt bushes.

I have spent a bit of time asking people on here, and people who have octavias etc, the overall verdict i have come across is SuperPro, But i have been told there is a slight to mild increase in road noise.

I have chosen the SuperPro as they seem to last longer than not only OEM bushes but Powerflex... I put PowerFlex and original on my car at different points both not having lasted long on the roads i drive. Hence im willing to compromise Noise for last ability and handling

I will let you know how they shape up on Thursday night if i get chance if not i will do it on monday when i return

Cheers Bud.

Yeah they are doing, it was late and they were closing, (my mate owns the place) so they gonna have a look in the morning

Wonder if they'll find the left over bolts in the morning? lol

I doubt it but we will see, in all fairness we just changed a fubar'd left driveshaft and they were from the same batch, on and the warranty ran out 6 days ago

If you need one mate, I have a brand new drivers side complete driveshaft with 2 years warranty sitting next to me at work. PM me if you need it.

Nope just popped out the bugger.... =( will update on my thoughts about bushes during weekend

Has your car been lowered? And is the drive shaft the right length? First time I've read about an octy popping a drive shaft

No totally standard ride height. And this drive shaft has been fitted for the last 12 months

And thanks Porkballs for the offer

Sorry buddy, don't agree entirely there...

The wishbone bush in the wishbone is indpendant from the other chassis bushes and a superpro(not those crappy powerflex ones) are fine fitted and will perform well even with the other chassis bushes being OEM. Fitted these truck loads of tiimes to peoples std cars and my own.

Also a dam site easier to fit than the solid TT bush. Although TT bush is a lot cheaper and is ok, had them fitted for a while prior to my more recent superpro castor ajustment ones.

The delaers fit rubber bushes coz they are cheaper and overall perform ok to most users.

True about the dogbone though as replacing the front section with the round bush don't last long at all. The rear one is ok

Right driven over 30 miles on the Super Pro this week, As for the handling it is superb improvements, Much better ride quality, although feels a bit rumbbly over rough roads, road noise levels slightly improved.

Feel really happy with the result and worth the money over standard bushes.....

Rather than write a longer write up i thought it was better to let you all ask me about things your curious about the bushes...

Overall thoughts love em

i just ordered a set of SuperPro wishbone bushes and ARB. i had powerflex ones on my bora and they transformed the car, so excited to see what these SuperPros are like.

You will have to let me know how your ARB ones do to the car
