Sat Nav and Bluetooth. My Solution.

Featured Replies

As someone who doesn't really use the phone in the car and prefers a sat nav where I can set the route on the PC with stops etc factored in then the Columbus set up didn't really fit what I wanted.

My solution was to hardwire the Garmin in as this gives me all the route planning flexibility I need and the bluetooth on it is bloody good. It also means that I can have the speed camera warnings that are updated weekly.

It was a simple fit, popping up the console box and running a wire to a switched live in the fusebox (a switched live was used as the unit has the option to power on and off with the ignition).

The mount is a Brodit one. I realise that the install may not be everyones taste but it gives you another option other than sticking it to the windscreen.

Looks good fella. This is where I have mounted my Parrot kit

Excellent work. I'm tempted to do something similar for my iphone which I use as a satnav (Waze).

Same here, I'm planning on getting rid of the Nexus and replacing it with a.. Nexus (phone) to do sat nav with a standard Pioneer double DIN bluetooth stereo.

In the meantime I'm using this.
