Not a brush, Not a sponge...what then?

Featured Replies

For many years I have used a brush to wash both my cars...always with good results. Today I have collected my new Superb with `Lifeshine`. Within the bumpf it says NOT to use a brush. Oh dear! Also,,,I have read here that using a sponge is also poo-poo. So...what should I use?

snow-foam! Google it - and maybe a lambswool wash mit might suffice?

Wash mitt is the way to go and a good PH neutral shampoo, don't forget two buckets, one to wash, one to rinse the mitt out in.

Snow foam first is a good way to help with swirls

Dooka wash pad and wheel mitt on the right are both excellent

I use a microfibre mitt. I've never had problems with a sponge, but I'd be wary of a brush after seeing the state of fire engines, washed ever day with brushes. The most important thing is not to pick up grit, whatever you use.

DONT use a brush!!

The Dooka Wash Pad is the best there is

Also a pressure washer and snow foam is pretty much essential

A brush!! No don't use that ever.

Use a wash mitt :)

Microfibre Noodle Mitt's FTW (two sided ones with bug remover are good)

Lidl have some microfibre mits on offer next week - http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/offerdate.htm?offerdate=32943 (it'll probably want your postcode to get to the car care offers). They're also selling their budget pressure washer for £39.99. I got one last year for the patio but it works well on the car. Even includes a washer bottle/foam lance, though it's not an adjustable one.

Indeed a great wash pad. Outlasts a mitt and doesn't rot. A decent sized natural sponge is also worth a look.

OMG...I would never use a sponge

Things have moved on and away from them now..They can impart swirls

Absolutley nothing wrong with a natural sponge - there is a big difference between these and the man made ones. Both Zymol and Dodo do sponges.

Can we see what brush you used to wash the car with?

I'd love to show you (add a photo) but I have no idea how to do that. I believe I need some equipment and technical knowledge that I regrettably don't have.
