New member just bought Fabia - in trouble already!

Featured Replies

Hello to one and all :o)

Just purchased an '04 Fabia 1.2 HTP Silverline Estate... love it!

Just one niggling issue I could really use some help with...

Before I bought it made sure it came with original keys - one normal key and one two button remote with integral key.

Used the key only to both open and start the car with no issue as seller explained battery down on the remote. On getting home tried the remote to see if it would operate at all, it opened and closed all doors with exception to the driver door then the little LED on the fob started to intermittently flash and the fob would not operate at all. I figured this must be a low battery and duly replaced with a known new, good battery. Exactly as before, the red LED on the remote is constantly flashing.

I have also noticed the little LED in the top of the door does not appear to flash or whatever. Wondered if I had some sort of pairing issue due to battery change and have duly tried to pair following precise instructions in the threads on this site.

Still no joy! I am now wondering if there is another issue related to the door LED/alarm causing the problem? I suspect the remote actuator to be at the root of the lock inop on driver door with remote, as it works fine manually with just the key.

I am now totally at a loss and no idea what to do next. Would love to avoid a trip to the main dealers... any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention, live just outside Swindon, anybody nearby that could help me out for a few quid would be great

Cheers Brian

there may be a broken wire or two between door and body in the loom.

Thanks for that, could be, I forgot to mention that the indicators flash as if all is working as it should on the odd occasion the remote works, nothing flashes with just the key.

Would this be the case if indeed there were a loom issue?

Would the sticking remote actuator contribute in any way?

Welcome to the forum.

THe other week i was sitting at KFC and then could not lock the car.

I read the Owners Manual and found the battery replacement section.

Clearly i had made a few signals to unlock the car just out of range and Un-paired the key fob.

I followed the instructions in the Owners manual, and then it was 'Paired' again.

best of luck.

Hi George, thanks for that.

I also followed the instructions in the manual with no success, also tried the other couple of methods in site threads, still no joy.

Pretty sure this is no longer a pairing issue.

Has anyone experienced the constant flashing LED on the remote?

Sorry, i said i followed the instructions,

actually i did not because i took it there was some Translation errors.

I had at one point the flashing light on the fob.

I wound down the back windows and put down the front so as not to be locked out.

It took trial and error and actually watching my watch and the fob and door flashing light untill eventually it 'Paired'

Cant say next time i would not have to do the messing about untill it works, but i will not be testing it out to see.

Someone of more use than me will be along soon hopefully.

george.

I know where you are coming from George, I have been in and out of the car so many times with windows up and down, spare key in ignition, remote in the door, etc. etc. Got to a point where I am concerned my continued 'tinkering' will result in no working keys at all.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Quick update... found the time to inspect the loom between door and body, all wires intact, no fault found. Removed door card, etc., wiring to door LED intact, remote actuator seems to be sticking. On the odd occasion I can get the remote to work, a little movement on the button can be seen, but not enough to fully move to or from locked position. At the point of giving up, anybody have any auto electrical contacts in the Swindon area?
