Sk odda or Sk owe da ?

Featured Replies

I thought the second pronounciation of 'Skoda' (in the title) was the right one but in the latest tv advert

they seem to use a 'hard' sounding version ?

Which is right?

Dealers seem to use the second version. Are they trying to differentiate the brand from it's past?

In the advert they use both!

They use "Skoe-da" as well as "Schkod-da" :)

Whichever one you (as a customer) use is the right version.

My mate, who has gone back to the Czech Republic, tried in vain for 12 months to get me to pronounce it like 'Yoda' but with 'shk' in place of the 'Y.'

Shkoda is correct, but it changes with the case so if you want to say "I have a skoda" you say "mam skodu" (shkodu)

Like the idea, but on the TV ad, sounds more like it's a native of Swedan .
