Adding oem centre arm rest to Octy SE

Featured Replies

Can it be done?

my dealer says not.

Yes there are people on here who have done, complete with heater ducting et all. Do a search should find some of the how to posts.

Not so fussed about it being cooled. Just wanted the arm rest and storage.

Also, my SE is coming with the Amundsen head unit. If i get oem parking sensors fitted will i be able to have the pdc imaged on the screen of the Amundsen when reversing?

It's commonly known as a 'Jumbo Box' (why I have no idea as it's not really that big).

Expect to pay around £120-150 for all the parts from a scrap yard.

The air blows into the storage space as well as to the rear passenger seats via the vents (if that makes any difference).

It is possible, but I don't know enough about the Amundsen and compatibility with PDC modules, ABS sensors, and PDC sensors to be a definitive answer.

It should look like this though (but in English) if you have front & rear sensors fitted:

This isn't my picture, I just used the power of Google to find one...

Thanks for the info.

The SE Octy i will be picking up next friday comes with the Amundsen unit. Something about a shortage of the standard units usually found in an Octy. I enquired at the dealer about fitting parking sensors but was told that they would be audio only and i would not have the graphical display.

I don't know enough about it but it sounds to me as though it should be able to show the graphics as well as be audible.

Check my sig for a guide.

Dealer in "not having a f*cking clue" shocker.

A lot more complicated than the Seat Leon armrest. We get sent an armrest and 5 self tapping screws! :D

I was going to post Chris Taylor has done it, but he has posted

What about the parking sensors?

If i get the oem ones can they be made to work with the amundsen head unit to have the graphical display?

Do the oem sensors only come in black or can you get them in different colours to match the vehicle?

I really can't see why VAG would take a backwards step and not have it displayed. Although it may be a penny-pinching exercise or they may reserve this feature for higher spec vehicles from the factory.

If they are genuine VAG sensors they should be painted to match your vehicle (although if designed to go in the bump strip - such as Mk 1 Octavias - then they will be black). The paint code is a 4-digit code on the white sticker with all the vehicle details on (in your boot or possibly handbook).

I've a Amundsen and factory fit rear parking sensors. I get a nice little graphic when reversing.

Just to be clear. I don't have any sensors on the car. What I was hoping to do was get some red own ones fitted and hopefully have the display also work on the Amundsen head unit. I am getting the car on Friday. I have already asked the dealer about parking sensors and they have told me they will be audio only. Could I get the required parts and maybe get an independent vag garage to fit them and get the display working?

Email Car Systems PL, explain what you want and ask them for the right kit.

Or have a look on 'VW Navi' forum for info.
