Just reviving this thread to ask a supplementary question...

Given the current "vat free" deal is there any more margin for negotiation on basic price or options?

Depends on the dealer but personally i have found getting a few extras thrown in is easier than getting money off

Thanks for the mention XK140, all I will say is dittoed to what Richf has put, every dealer is different :x

When the VAT-free offer was on beginning of this year (Feb?) I enquired to their best price on a few Skodas - in fact I gave them my budget for each vehicle in question. After a week, they came back with "list price". They didn't get the business...as if the list price was within the budget I wouldn't have had to ask... I was only needing a few hundred off anyway - and most of the online brokers claimed to be able to do it, and more.
