Another seat thread!

Featured Replies

Well, the final step of my de-beiging effort will be to replace the seats in my car. The only problem is that they're heated and scrappies rarely have these in stock (seems people only write off Comforts and vRS's! ) so it got me thinking. If I was to find a non-heated seat, how easy would it be to a) move the heating element to it or B) move the covers (do they have detachable covers?) from the non-heated seat to my seats?

Ta for any thoughts/info! :D

Well there are a couple of briskodians who have had furbies recovered in leather , so the covers *should* be removable

Yeah that's what got me thinking .... I wonder if they'd survive being removed though ;)

Know how it feels :(

Yeah - why not spend another 800 quid or so and get leather

The mats might be movable - some folks have had to have mats replaced under warranty so if the dealers can do it, I guess so can you! :)

There's a picture of a naked vRS seat in my gallery; The heating elements are held down (like the covers) by 'hog rings' - circular split rings about 1/2" diameter which link a loop on the textile to a rod embedded in the seat. When my seats were done, the old rings were destroyed to remove them and new ones used to re-fix the new covers.

So yes, with a pair of stout long-nose pliers you should be able to retrieve the heater elements and the brackets holding the wiring connectors under the seats from your originals and transplant them to different seats.

But leather is a better option - it's a lot of work to go through for cloth covers.

If you need more pictures, PM me.
