Rs Performs Like An Old Granny

Featured Replies

The hot weather sure makes the vRS feel like an old granny.

I drove a friends vRS wich is totally stock, and it felt slow.

I drove mine that is revo'd with 4bar, and it felt slow.

Am I alone with this sort of performance (me and my friend)?

Or do the vRS really need a bigger IC fitted?

I might add that the temperature was around 29C.

Cheers,

FD

No.

You just get used to the power of your car, whatever it is, and notice the difference when the atmospherics change.

I normally notice it the other way round - from hot weather to cooler damper weather, when I'm reminded that my 4x4 really does have 220bhp and not 200. It was the same with my Impreza Turbo.

Anyway whats this I hear about the reindeers getting sunburn in Lapland and Finland ? ;)

Well, the weather is really nice and hot here in Sweden, much like it is in central Europe.

I can image the poor animals are not used to the sun and the heat :)

Anyways, I'm leaving to Greece this Monday, so I'll leave Stockholm's nice hot weather (around 25-30C) and will be joining Greece with nice hot weather aswell (30-40C).

Cheers,

FD

i concour. i drive a stock RS in the same area as Diva, and have felt the same drop in performance.

Are you sure someone didn't slip a 4x4 ECU into your car when you weren't looking ;)

in both ours? hardly possible....but then, some elk might have put their fur into our exhausts because of the heat. one never knows with them elks :D

got to agree.

in the heat of the last few days, my car has been more talk and less torque.

Have to agree. The vRS is performing badly. Why, yesterday evening, I was beaten off the lights by a Carrera! Sheesh! :D

Hey! A couple of hours ago I fitted two plastic tubes from the airfilter down to the front spoiler just becouse of the noticable powerdrops in hot weather(called heat soak I think). I used 2 tubes with a diameter of 6-7cm. It diod actually help. Alot! I tried in city traffic as well and I can't believe the difference. I drove around for over 1 hour(26*C) without any powerdrops at all!!! This is a mod everybody should try.

Kserw ti xreiazese Thee,

if you've watched 2 Fast 2 Furious maybe you've noticed something cool (really cool) thing with the cooling on one of the Nissan Skyline's.

If that couldn't help in 40C, I don't know what would.

if you've watched 2 Fast 2 Furious

rushing to nearest cinema.....

Funny no difference at all in my RS. :D

it was a nos purge vale nothing to do with cooling.....though you could use a c02 spray for the ic... its something im considering but a f.o. big fmic is prob better...

That's what I first thought of the Skyline :(

I remember people talked about ABD's FMIC.. or if it was Forge!?

It's an ABD racing fmic, take a look in My Performance *fmic* thread by me (don't know how to link). :(

Your engine power output is unaffected by changes in ambient temperature? For goodness sake patent whatever you have got fitted because you could make a fortuine from it, Des!!! rolleyes.gif

Denis I think Des means they are that minimal with a FMIC that is is hard to tell - although Des has so few many under the bonnet he would find it difficult to notice!

Spot on Paul

Denis, under normal driving conditions ie in town/traffic the FM works very well with no drop in performance. After a shall we say brisk drive I cannot notice any drop in performance and I can actually hold the intake pipe to the FM or the inlet manifold/pipe without getting burnt something I couldn't do pre FMIC.

With FMIC there is no real gain in horse power or very little, (opinions vary on this point) saying that ABD Racing claim A 9bhp increase with there FM.

I must say the RS is running on top of it's game with the mods I have, power delivery is smooooooth but keeps going round to the limiter peaking at 1.3bar @ 5000rpm and holding 0.8bar 7000rpm+ (according to Big Ben the boost gauge). With the boost i am running I can hit the limiter in fifth with relative ease, you can work the top speed out yourself.

Des, What was the part.no on the ABD FMIC?

ditto, it keeps feeling like I'm running out of gear! But you don't need more than 200bhp for that I'd guess....
