Featured Replies

Hi all

Help needed.

o6 MK2 Petrol Octavia VRS.

Driving the car stutters on acceleration, under load high or low gears. Problem is intermittent, car drives fine then it starts and wont go away until the next day after rest.

Coils and sparks all checked and ok.

Fault codes; Circuit A voltage low

Po3o3 Cylinder 3 misfire

Diag; Skoda replaces MAF sensor (Ford group Skoda Rayleigh - anyone had problems with this dealer?

Problem persists - back to Skoda who say the small clip that holds the coil pack loom on the coil 3 is broken and this is on Coil 3, they say this is the problem and requires a new coil pack loom!!

They cable tie it and problem goes away. (so they say.

I check no cable tie fitted.

Drives fine for 3o miles.

Problem returns coil 3.

They say the vibration is causing the connection break and thus a misfire, all looks solid to me.

Can the clip be replaced or is it a new loom? Are we being ripped off?

Not happy with the main dealer as I suspect foul play until I can prove it.

Anyone with similar problem?

Fault codes misfire cylinder 3 still nothing else.

38k and a nightmare car - all recalls complete including coils

so far

ABS module

Coil pack x 2

CAT

Air con compressor

Skoda UK - useless

Could it be an injector problem (or loom)?

When was the last time you changed your plugs?

  • 3 months later...

Apologies for ressurecting an old topic, but i believe i now own the OP's old car and wanted to share the solution incase anyone else has similar issues. I took it to APS in Brackley and It turned out the car had a few issues which have directly or indirectly contributed to the misfire. After they replaced the broken clip, and fitted a new coil pack and spark plugs, with no improvement, they did the following:

Replaced the PCV as it was faulty.

Took off and cleaned up the inlet manifold and runner which was gunked up ( and throwing up a fault code ).

Replaced faulty injector on cylinder 3.

It's now misfire free and hopefully solved once and for all

I was at least correct in part then

Funny how my car has started to do this after a coilpack failed a few months ago. Replaced the dud one and now it pops and stutters at around 4.5k under WOT every now and again. I've changed all the spark plugs and the coil packs are faily recent. Can be quite bad when trying to overtake and I have no power.

Have you got VCDS? Log the cylinders for misfires if you have. When I did my conversion one of my injectors was faulty and only misfired on the strongest map I have when on full boost, the other maps I have were fine.

I swapped the plugs and coils around which did nothing. When I took the plug out of the cylinder with the misfire I noticed it was cleaner than the rest so I decided it was the only thing left to try. I replaced the injector which fixed the problem.

Yes I have, I keep meaning to do some logs but I work away a lot and don't have much spare time. Maybe this weekend and I'll post my results.

Evening fellas....... I have recently joined the K04 club and bought muckipups old Vrs :hi:

last night had the same problem as above, giving it some beans on full boost and the engine management light started blinking at me (for about 30 secs, then went off), didn't notice any real lack in performance at time but have just scanned with VCDS which has returned a misfire in cyclinder 3, last time i had a coil pack go was in the S3 with put it into limp mode, could this be a coil on its way out just not completely dead?

Could be coil pack, plug, carbon build up on intake valves or blocked injector. Try swapping coils with another cylinder.

I just tried swapping my coilpacks around (the newest coil moved to cylinder 3) and it seems to have cured it. Very odd. I'll do some logs anyway just to be sure, but it is driving ok.

I've got a couple of spare coil packs now Harry if you ever need one
