air con

Featured Replies

Went to put on air con today but no cold air and there is a funny noise coming off it but when i turn a c off noise goes away cars only done 20 000 mls diesel hardly ever use a/c any thoughts on what it could be

Not an expert but I know if you don't use it regularly that you risk failure

Have a look down the side of the engine at the compressor. There is a torx bolt in the centre if it's a Delphi unit, just see if it looks like its coming out.

Not the case these days. No clutch on the compressor do its always running and always circulating.

Isnt the Aircon pressure sensor a known weak point? Just started to investiagate mine as it was regassed recently but never acheived ice cold status. So either I have a leak or I need to check sensor....

anyone else had similar symptoms?

Not using it means the fluid sits there not moving, this has a bad effect on all the rubber seals.

Use it or lose it. Just regularly, doesn't have to be all the time.

I had a compressor go on my last vRS. I picked it up - was a 56 plate with around 20k miles on the clock. Attempted to use AC on the drive home - just warm air.

Went back, compressor failed, replaced under warranty - which is a good thing as apparently it's like a 2.5hr job for two technicians, labour costs would be mental on an out of warranty on that.

This in incorrect. The compressor is driven all the times. At minimum stroke (the closest you can get to off), there is more than sufficient circulation to lubricate the seals.

Not necessarily so, I had my Sept 56 plate New compressor fitted for £445 ( with goodwill from Skoda) and a full aircon service
