Bluefin remap

Featured Replies

Has anyone got there petrol vrs mapped with 1 of these?

If so, whats your views/experience with it & would you recommend it?

They have the unit on demon tweeks for £364 with a free k&n panel filter & it seems really convenient in the sense i could do it myself & remove the map should i not like it (doubtful i know!)

Sorry if this has been covered but just want peoples opinions for myself.

Cheers.

Please report back how you get on.

I had bluefin on my focus st - it was very good...and very quick! They did a special too were they gave you shall the stages for free to download, you needed the various add ons like up graded radiator and exhaust etc. I've been thinking of getting it for my octavia vrs oil burner.

I had one for my TFSI and it was great a huge difference and it didnt tear the dv valve which is common after a remap, I sold it because it made my mpg worse and I struggle as it is lol the only thing I would say is make sure the car starts when you reload the standard map back in as mine didnt, it was something to do with a mistake when they closed the file and they had to send a new file to sort it out, im using my phone so cant post links but the thread on here was called had its chips. Have fun :-)

I used one for my stage 1 modifications. You certainly felt the difference, but I would still make sure you are running the latest reversion DV. Iirc the map relied heavily on increased boost.

I did try there stage 2 map, but didn't think it suited the car, so went for custom map instead.

They are great if you want a bit extra from a standard car, but if you plan further modifications I'd strongly recommend you budget in a custom remap, so it will work in harmony with your modification.

Oh and yes I used more fuel, but that's partly because you tend to use the go pedal a bit more!

"latest reversion DV?"

Forgive my ignorance but what does that mean?

It means the original had a design flaw and there is a replacement part

Sorry, the early Diverter Valves were a kind of rubber diaphragm & were prone to ripping. At best when they went they gave reduced power, and at worst, almost no power and rough running. They were modified several times and the ones supplied now are the latest revision. A search on here will tell you what version it is. The earlier versions didn't like remaps, and we're prone to failure especially if a car was remapped, (and also if driven hard too). They aren't expensive parts and there is a how to thread somewhere on here if you fancy tackling it yourself.

Today I received my bluefin!

Uploaded to superchips and in 5 min the map was ready for download.

From 105bhp, 1.9 TDI PD, now 105+27 bhp.

First impression: WONDERFUL!

1st and 2nd gear =>no words to describe the sensation! Like Octavia 2.0 TDI PD, but with more noise (I know the power of 2.0)

Been running bluefin for 4 yrs , 2yrs on mondeo st and 2 on vrs never a days problems, no idea on actual improvement with figures but its deffo smoother, faster and more efficent

The latest part number for the Diverter valve is 06F 145 710 G. They cost about £35 and are easy to change.

Checking the DV is next on my list. Expect to have the piston type one with me having the 2.0 TSI engine but heard some of the earlier ones came with the rubber diaphragm.

Just so im getting the picture with this.

Am i right in thinking the diverter valve is also known as a dump valve or is that sonething totally different?

Thumbs up for Blufin from me too, ran both stage 1&2 on my old TFSI with no issues.

Yes it caries out a similar function to a Blow off Valve, but doesn't "dump" the pressure straight to atmosphere. Rather it redirects it with the system.

This may help too http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/159115-knackered-divertor-valve-maybe/page__p__1966886__hl__divertor+valve__fromsearch__1

What DV would be recommended then?

An oem or aftermarket brand like forge or bailey?

I priced up a forge replacement (The full valve with solenoid) and it was around £180 if I was you id just wait until/if yours fails and buy an OE for around £35. If you want the blow off sound you can buy a forge spacer that goes between the OE valve and the turbo for around £35, but like I said my original dv was ok when I checked it undamaged by the bluefin so didnt bother changing it.

How will i know if the original does fail?

I dont want to change it for the fun of it.

How long has yours been running with your bluefin?

I ran the bluefin for about 25K with no problems, reading threads on here the symptoms of failure are often reduced power, rough running and you usually get the engine light on with a boost not reached fault.
