adjust rear brakes VRS

Featured Replies

hi all i have just replaced the rear brake pads on my 05 fabia vrs i know they will have to bed in but the handdbrake lever is a bit high bout 6 or 7 clicks i have pumped the brakes up the rear calipers r free i know to screw the pistons back in a ok and the hand brake levers on the calipers r moving free i dont really want to screw up the cables from in side the car so is there any other way cheers its just am getting it ready for MOT iand i think the handle is coming up to high cheers for any help

thanks mark

i pulled my hand brake on and off a few times fairly quickly with the button pressed in and this adjusted the handbrake, its now quite firm

What he said! Or just use it & it will adjust in time. Or, if you're in a hurry, adjust the pistons back out until the pads just clear the discs. The pistons should always be adjusted out slightly after screwing them in for a pad/disc change, to remove the play.

cheers the front 312mm have got better since doing the rears but still a bit high will drive it and c how it gets then cheer again for the reply's

have you tried slackening of the handbrake cable adjustment then pumping the pedal with the handbrake off, then adjust the handbrake back up to whatever feels right.

just as long as the wheels spin relatively freely when the handbrake is off.
