Front Brake Disc Removal Too?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wondering if someone could take a look at this picture of my Fabia front brake setup and tell me what size tool I need to get the huge star bolt off so I can remove the disc?

I had thought prior to looking that it would just be a couple of torx bolts to remove and then the disc would come off, but as you can see there is only 1 torx screw and the huge star bolt in the centre. I thought I'd ask hoping it would be a standard size and someone would have done this before me!?

Thanks

erm....you don't remove that!!! That's the hub retaining nut.

Remove the caliper, then see the retaining screw in the disc (6 o'clock position in your pic)....Undo that and the disc comes off.

No offence, but if something this basic has stumped you, maybe brakes are best left to a garage.

Thanks mate, already had that screw out and the disc felt solid on, hence my assumption the hub nut could come off too. Thought it best to ask before forcing things and possibly causing more problems.

I ain't taken offence don't worry, and if I was as amateur as you have presumed then I would be leaving it to a skoda dealer. My reason for asking is that my RS Megane actually needs this removing to get the discs off, and having not dealt with a skoda before I thought it best to ask.

There is a small single screw a 6 o'clock that you need to undo.

You'll also need to take the pads off (along with the caliper to get these off.

Once these are off, the disc should come off, although may require some persuasion with a rubber mallet etc.

I have to agree though, if you're stumped at this point, I'd be tempted to pass it to a garage.

EDIT: Ok Just seen your above post which wasn't showing when I posted, so no you just need to persuade it.

^^^ please see above, not stumped just wanting to make sure before putting my shoulder into the disc and possibly 'braking' something

Thanks for the other novice pointers I didn't need.
