Tyres - never thought they could be SO different....

Featured Replies

When I bought my Fab last year, it came with 4 matching tyres on it - good, good.

The problem was, they were Wanlis :D

Due to various reasons, I have been running these up until last Saturday.

To say it's like driving Bambi on Ice when it is anything but bone dry is an understatement. Makes for serious fun when in the mood, but gets tiring on the daily commute.

So last Saturday I plumped for 4x Rainsport 2s and it poured down on Mon and Tue during the commute.

I could barely get the thing to break traction - one particular roundabout where the front end would drift very wide on the Wanlis was taken a good 5 mph faster and when I put the power on it just gripped and turned.

Talk about night & day!

I do believe I may be falling back in love with my wee car again - might even stump up to get both doors fixed where some ****bag kicked them last year.

This just in from our motoring correspondent, you get what you pay for with tyres. In other breaking news, etc etc....

Seriously though, good to head the car is more enjoyable. They cost a lot, good to be able to enjoy them as well.

Cant beat a Wanlis

Wanlis are better than Scudo Stunners, those are scary in the wet

Personally, I didn't get on with the Rainsports.. I know a lot of people here do, but I didn't.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 for me any day

Mmm, I loved the GSD3 tyres I had on my old Ibiza. Those tyres just kept on giving. Brilliant.

Linglong wtf haha

loved this from one of the reviews 'They do last quite well asuming you havent crashed your car before they wear out'. Priceless! I had a couple of Uniroyal rain experst whacked on my Firby the other week and they are amazing in the wet and dry. Best tyres I've had and would certainly get them again.

Linglong's are excellent compared to Kingpin's. .

i haye yokohama parada spec 2 boots on my little beast! not properly lost grip yet and i push it a lot. very soft compound though and i seem to be wearing them down quite quickly... had goodyear eagle f1s on my last motor and could not get any grip at all, the best tyres i had on a car were goodrides, well the best name anyway!!! we renamed them ditchfinders as that would have been a more apt name!

For summer driving, I loved the Goodyear GSD3s, great in the dry and just sliced through water. They lasted very well too. However they were absolutely useless in winter when temperatures got cold. The soft T1-Rs were much better in cold weather.

I've got Rainsports on at the moment and still am very impressed. I think I'll buy another pair soon as they are wearing out (currently have approx 2.5 -3 mm)

I have mich pilot sports 3 and they are amazing, like you say night and day is the best way to describe them!

i had pirelli p zero nero but due to a unrepairable puncture and availability of tyres i ended up with a pair of maxxis... dont seem TOO bad grip wise, deff not as good as the pirelli in the dry... biggest issue seems to be drop in mpg by about 4mpg!! so overall id sya theyre a bit ****

I've got RainSports on my Polo - lovely tyre, quiet, comfy and grippy. Squeal a lot in the hot though, great for that 'look at me' affect!:blush:

when i bought my furby it too came with wanli tyres on it. the road noise off them was horrendous, sounded like i had two f***** wheel bearings. now running yokohama paradas.

It's beyond me how peeps can even consider using the wan k li Tyres they are terrible and unsafe.

This isn't aimed at anyone on here lol.

I went to look at a 225 model Audi TT on a garage forecourt with my bro for himself, could not believe it honestly, Such a powerful car with four of them on there lol. We walked away and he got himself an Octavia VRS mk1 instead, which I'm pleased about.
