Really bad radio reception on Sony HU

Featured Replies

I had my Sony HU installed in my Octy the other day, and I've just noticed I can't get a half-reasonable radio reception. The place who did it have charged me 18 notes for a signal booster, so maybe it's loose/dodgy?

Cheers

I have had three Sony Headunits now and all have had pretty poor radio reception.

I'd say it was a dodgy signal booster - all my Sony hus have been fine.

I'd go with the signal booster to. They are required if you use the oem aerial.

Dont rule out a hu fault though because I had a sony tuner fail, everything else worked but I could recieve no radio stations.

That might explain why my reception is pant5. I best get one of those then ;)

The HU is fine, as I can be driving around happy as Larry (who is Larry anyways?), and htne go round a corner and the signal just drops off.....

Does sound like a dodgy booster doesnt it?

My Octy vRS radio reception is ar$e. When I had my Alpine HU in my last car it was fine, in this it's cack.

Yup , get a signal booster. I had the same issue when the booster unplugged itself.

Like I say, it's supposedly got one installed, so maybe it's come unplugged already?

When I fitted my HU I fitted a signal booster from Halfords.

The reception was poor on FM. Strong local stations were fine but at times Radio 1 was poor and weaker stations I couldn't get at all.

I bought another booster from my local ICE retailer and it has restored radio reception back to what it should be.

Cheers
