Newbie - Looking to buy a vRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm new to the site as I've found a vRS which I think I want to buy. Any thoughts / opinions on this this one?

I've looked it and the car is very tidy.

Cheers, David

Looks well looked after, low mileage and nice upgrades.

And the right color too

Cheers Raf_ I've had a look at the buying guide on here and that seems to cover everything.

What do you think to the price? Thinking of offering 3.5k

Mine was up for 3.2k I offered him 2.5k and 2 weeks later i brought it for 2.6k lol

mine is cheaper

True and being a forum car is more likely to be owned by an enthusiast who looks after his cars

Ha,this is my car! I think you should come and buy it ;) you're right in what you're saying though, forum member owned cars are definitely a better buy!

My car is in mint condition and drives perfectly...

What mods gave it 220bhp?

Oh, thought might have a dyno.

no real point with a dyna to check power,my mate has a stage 2 revo polo gti and his ran 225bhp on mrc's dyno then a week later did a run on amd essex's one and got 239bhp

Can be used to compare to other cars on the same day, or before and after mods. I'd expect most dynos to be optimistic though, so the owners go away happy thinking their car has more power than it really does. The power at the flywheel is based on an estimation of transmission losses, so the power at the wheels is the one to be looking at.

I thought it had been well established the silver ones go faster (standard) :giggle:

All these VRS's to look at are making me miss mine!

revo claim between 30-50bhp increase on a stage 1

I believe the 30 - 50 bhp would depend on what other accompanying mods you might have, if you had full turbo back exhaust, FMIC and a stage 1 you'd probably get a bit more than 210. Mine's stage 1 and I've got 200 at the moment, but If I never had mine mapped I'd still have 160, cos it was missing 20 when they first dyno'd it at Shark!

Dyno before, remap, dyno after, should be fairly useful in gauging the increases of a remap.

220bhp claim from just a remap seems very optimistic is all. :)

I'll dig through my paperwork and see if there is one. I know that revo are one of the best, especially when it comes to VAG cars but you might be right 220 may be optimistic...

I'll change my advert to 210ish if I can't. Don't want to mislead anyone.

4 previous owners? Seems a high number for such low mileage. Alarm bells are ringing.

For a car thats almost 10 years old I don't think 4 previous owners is hign. Sure it'd be nice in this day and age to be selling a car with 1 carefull lady owner, but that's generally a bloke making out it was his wifes car ;)

Bought a little Yaris for my mrs recently, W reg, had 50k on the clock and 5 previous owners, runs like a dream, only thing it's needed was a new battery.

I agree Crayon_UK. I know that I've only done 6k a year in it and it had low mileage when I bought it.

Most people I know tend to keep their cars about 2 years anyway.

My old mini had 20+ owners and it was great!
