Fabia Mk2 vRS Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi, just a quick question, does anybody know if the fabia mk1 vrs front & rear brakes are the same as the fabia mk2 vrs front & rear?

Thanks, sib-rs

I'm not looking to put bigger brakes on the car I'm just after some uprated discs and pads like ebc however they don't specify the discs and pads for the mk2 Fabia so I was wondering if maybe the mk1 Fabia vrs were the same, size and pad wise?

Yes they're the same as the mk1.

Yes they're the same as the mk1.

For definite? cheers ????

Yes deffo are

How much are you paying for uprated discs if you dont mind me asking?

Uprated discs(OEM Sized) will give you very minimal extra braking performance and from past experience they aren't cheap. Uprated pads will give a nice improvement though.

What im trying to get at is if you scour ebay you can pick up the 312mm carriers/calipers and discs for £250-300 and that will give you a great improvement in braking performance whilst still looking stock from outside. Id bet a technician at Skoda wouldn't even notice a 312mm conversion on the car unless he had another stock vRS next to him to compare against.

Im only pointing this out as on my last car i purchased Zero Sixty dimpled and grooved Discs(OEM sized) with Tarox Strada fast road pads and wasnt happy with the improvement for the outlay.

The brakes were no stronger at all, and actually faded more when used on track. I had to change pads to DS2500, and in the end they were only marginally better than stock. iirc that was about £280 for the uprated tarox pads& zero sixty discs, then a further £100 for better DS2500 pads after. I could easily have just upgraded to the R32 brakes for about the same cost and had much better braking performance.

Just something to consider.

I have 312 brakes and they are a huge improvement the pedal feel is much better after several high speed brakes and as Sy says they look stock too.

The 312 upgrade on my Mk1 were great and the best thing I did. I still have them just got to get round to selling them. When the time comes I'm thinking bigger like Hurdy did. Tarox?

Stick them on your mk2?

so if I were to buy front both VW Golf R32 front calipers and carriers they'd fit straight on with a set of ebc drilled & grooved discs with red stuff pads, with no messing around with brake hoses, wheel spacers etc?

yup

Even the twin pot 334mm?

the Mk4 Golf GTI Anniversary or mk1 Octy vRS 1.8T 312mms setup is a direct fit. As are the Seat Leon 4 pot brembos and the 334mm twinpot Mk4 R32 setup.

EBC pads are poo btw. You can pick up kits complete with OEM discs and pads for a bargain. Huge stopping power

Yes they're the same as the mk1.

No they ain't. The MK2 vRS has ATE brakes not Lucas brakes like the MK1.

Yes deffo are

Sorry they ain't, see above.

now this is getting confusing lol

It is true you can fit the same brake upgrades to both cars, 312mm brakes fit both (however the ATE brakes on the Fabia are not the same as the Octavia). I think I updated the 312mm pictorial thread with this info when I changed the brakes on my Bocanegra.

Oh and my MK1 Fabia MPi is running MK2 Fabia vRS brakes front and rear.

Stick them on your mk2?

Won't be putting them on my Mk2. For a start they're now green and not red. Plus as I said when the time comes I'll be going a lot bigger. I saw pics of Hurdy's Tarox setup once and that looked meaty enough to me
