Light fault warning - but can't find a blown bulb

Featured Replies

Wifes Yeti has started displaying a bulb warning on the dash, saying it's at the front left.

Having checked all lights at the front, they all seem to be illuminating fine on both sides.

Any idea what could be causing this?

There was an issue with this in the early days of the Yeti, possible associated with the xenon light failure on start up due to faulty 'boost' boxes.

Dealer might be able to find a tech bulletin on it.

MFD should be telling you which bulb it thinks isn't working. Is it saying front left headlight, or some other lamp?

I had an issue with the right rear stop light bulb. MFD was telling me that the left bulb had failed but in fact it was the right bulb that was failing intermittently Swapping the bulb to another position took the fault with it, though whilst the car was stationary, the light worked perfectly. It turned out to be a faulty bulb in which the filament had parted from the wire post inside. When the car wasn't moving, it worked fine as the filament was still resting on the post, but as soon as you went over a bump, the filament lost contact and triggered the warning, albeit on the wrong side of the car. Very frustrating.... especially as the MFD was initially referring me to the wrong side of the car.

New bulb, problem solved!

Hi Sorry to drag up an old thread,

did you get anywhere with this? i am having a similar problem with my reverse lights, the MFD is saying its the left bulb that is blown when its the right that is not working and vice versa. when i check the bulbs on a bulb tester they are working fine. if i put that bulb back in the cluster it came from it still wont work, however if switch the 2 bulbs over they both work! if this was happening once a year i wouldn't mind but its happening almost once a week!

thanks in advance

I had a number of problems with the boot light intermittently not working, although the bulb tested out OK. Eventually I found that the base of the bulb did not press tightly against the contact in the bulb holder. A little adjustment (bending the contact) soon fixed it. As there are minor differences between bulbs you might find that this is the cause in your case.

If you do fiddle, make sure that the power is off otherwise you could short it out.
