Coil Pack Grounding - Help appreciated :)

Featured Replies

Guys and gals of Briskoda I could do with some of your expert knowledge!!

To cut a long story short I had a breakdown (of the motoring variety :giggle: ) and had to call the AA.

They plugged in diagnostics and it said multiple misfires on coils 1 and 3 and 2 or 4 or something like that.

They suggested coil pack had gone - so i replaced it for a new one.

Misfire problem solved, However,

After a good long run to test the new pack , engine management light on, so plugged in diagnostics and it reads "coil pack shorting to ground stage 1" and "stage 2" on another - or something very similar to that.

Being proactive I disconnected the negative battery terminal to reset ECU (followed one the excellent guides on here), cleaned up the spark plugs which looked fine and reconnected the new coil pack.

However, the engine management light still comes on and stays on.

Car drives and feels fine but ever so slightly underpowered.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

Sounds like a wiring issue to the coil pack

Thats what I thought tech1e but Ive had a good look around all the wiring and cant find any defects or anything.

Ive just been out now to have another look and noticed that the part number for the new coilpack is different to the old one.

will this make a difference? cant get hold of skoda parts until tommorow so im hoping your expertise will put me right!

old one = 047905104B

new one = " but with A at the end

Sadly I don't know part numbers off the top of my head, but you will probably find its just an updated part so the number has changed.
