Half day from work, all packed to go away to the Welsh border for the week. Coffee and Rolls prepared for the 4 hour drive, cd in the stereo ready, traffic has now died down at 8.30pm so off I go.

Or so I think.....

Get into the car, turn the key and nothing but a feeble attempt for an engine start and then 5 seconds later 3 loud beeps.

Home start are on their way, I just hope it's something they can sort otherwise every hour that passes is wasting my holiday from work. :thumbdwn:

Car is not even a year old yet. Fabia vRS 54 plate. I'm off to cry somewhere dark and quiet for a while...

It's probably something silly and daft that Mr AA will fix in moments.

I hope you have left!! Let us know what is was, it may well happen to us lot some day!

Whoops! i'm so embarresed but as the AA man said before we had even got to the car, "it is probably the battery". He was right!

It had been in my lockup garage for a couple of weeks with only a short run or two about a week ago and something must have drained the battery just low enough for everything else to work but not have enough juice to start the car. Anyway, apparently it's not uncommon for the AA to get called for these and he seemed quite pleased it was an easy call. :)

I think it was the 3 loud beeps that added to the concern for me, as I was thinking all kinds of things could have gone wrong.... doh! :o

Anyway i'm sitting in a cottage on the Welsh border now so phew! I think it was more the thought of wasting my much loved time off work more than worrying about the car. ;)

Apologies to Skoda for the terrible things I said too...I take them all back and will continue to defend you until i'm blue in the face.

Have a great bank holiday weekend!

Enjoy :D - glad it was something easy to sort out, just may be worth dropping a solar-charger on it if you don't have mains in that lockup garage (obviously putting the solar-part somewhere where sunlight reaches it :D )
