Shark remap

Featured Replies

Hope you lot can help on here As an a newby

I had a remap on my fabia vrs two years ago at Gti inters by shark. Since then av taken the cat out, fitted a new back box, upgraded my standard panel filter for a k and n. and had a bigger clutch put in coz that didn't last long with the map. what I was wondering is will taking the cat out and changing air filter ect. affect the original shark map?

Any info will be grate cheers

Stu

You should have done all that before the map so it could be taken into account. Most of it won't have a huge effect, but iv heard before now it's not good to run a car mapped to have a cat in place without one. Think it was jabba or someone saying it could cause the turbo to overspool. Some say not, but Id get it tweaked to be on the safe side.

I actually have been emailing shark asking the same question. Their cat and de-cat maps are completely different so best to get it tweaked :)

With the cat removed will probably cause overboost. N75 map will need adjusting.

With an upgraded clutch they'll be able to dial in more low down torque.

It has seemed to put the black smoke out more now you reckon it will be worth doing the rest of the tweaks for a stage 2 map how much extra work is it?

More black smoke would mean your getting less air in.

Yeah you need to have a decat map put on fella, give ben a shout and im sure he can sort something out for you to account for the clutch too, as one of the other guys mentioned. Id also bin the k&n panel and get a new standard one but that's just my opinion.

Cheers for the advice. cars getting serviced soon so will replace the filter think I have a road trip on my hands to get the map tweaked. The drive home will be fun. Thanks again

sack the aftermarket air filter off, just stick a brand new standard one in. I think Luke had a problem with the pipercross one destroying itself and smashing up his turbo.

And we don't want that to happen alto it wud be a gud excuse for a bigger turbo

I hear what people are saying about performance panel filters.

I think Lukes one may have led a harder life than most. I think he had a

pipercross filter. I've also seen a few knackered Green panel filters.

But my K and N never gave me a shred of trouble. When it was removed recently

it needed a clean but there was no sign of rust, damage or degradation.

It had been on the car for at least 3 years and was cleaned and oiled at each

service. The aerosol oil is very good for re oiling. You get a very fine mist. .
