Effect of Octavia III on Octavia II Values

Featured Replies

I may be looking to purchase a circa 2004/2005 Skoda Octavia TDI in the next 12 months and wonder what effect the Octavia III will have on the 2nd hand values of Octavia III.

E.g would it be worth waiting until the Octavia III comes out then grab myself a bargain?

Thanks

They will not be out till next year , I think if you are buying around that age they will have lost most of their value

In this post http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/245236-octavia-iii/ it seams to indicate the Skoda III is comming in September this year, which in some way makes sense with 62 Plate coming out in September.

It is certainly not, the Rapid is , some dumb salesman does not know his @rse from his elbow, do you really think it will be launched in a month , and before the Rapid, we have had 7 months of teasers of the Rapid. Trust me I have a friend who runs the parts department in the Skoda dealership, it will be June at the earliest( The Rapid ( which is launched 29th September, Paris motor show

2004-2005 never fear it took its new model hit when the FL came out I can't see it making much of a difference. The FL will take a knock id think :(

Next time you are in see if they have a feeling for when the Scouts out. I have another car on order due out late next year, would be nice to get the new Scout first

I can only echo what's already been said...

The introduction of a MkIII Octavia will have no effect on the value of a 2004 / 2005 pre-facelift MkII.

I'm sure the MkII facelift may take a hit but even then I don't think by much.

I remember when I was searching for a used Scout (I know these trend a little differently to other Octavia's) at the time the facelift was introduced and had no effect at all on the prices of the pre-FL Scout's I was looking at.

Things have changed though, Skoda's are now much more popular then they used to be and as such there is an increasingly higher number of used examples out there so when the MkIII eventually arrives the MkII may take a bit of a hit.

I certainly wouldn't avoid buying an Octavia now on the off-chance it's value drops by a few hundred quid sometime next year!

For some variations they have been run out allready so there will be a gap in the availability of some combinations.

how many 2012 1.8, scouts, L&K's

I think that will create a bit of demand for the best of the last few as they hit the second hand market for those that can't afford new and can't wait for the MK III to come on the nearly new/second hand markets.

if anything this is starrting to happen allready retail prices seem to be high.

There is probably going to be more 1.2,.1.4, SE+ arounds as it seemed most dealers had those as company/demos when they came out

Try finding a facelift 2.0 TDi Octavia, you'll be lucky to find one in the sea of 1.6 TDi's...

The other issue might be the Rapid, how many Octavia buyers might look at a new Rapid if the prices/specs are right.

Reduced ioptions and a long wait for OctyIII might attract a few away from nearly new.

Especialy those that don't want to go to the bigger Octavia,

Those that are happy with bigger allready have the Superb as an option
