Hard leather seat causing right buttock pain

Featured Replies

Have you tried putting your wallet into a front pocket, or let SWMBO have it for a few hours, to let the pressure off, I found that if my wallet was in a back pocket it gave a numb bum after a while

  • I find I get some discomfort to the underside of my left thigh after driving the car for at least 30 minutes. The same was true of my first Superb II 'S'; I'm now driving an 'SE' and the situation rem

I don't know what mileages, you all have but I picked my Elegance 2012 up a couple of months ago with just under 9k on it and had terrible right leg pain just like sciatica, but having now done just over 15k it seems to have gone. I have played with the seats loads but have left them alone the last few weeks. I did 800 miles last week in four days and no pain. It seems like the leather has softened maybe??

Will do a free swap with anyone who wants to change to a cloth interior

Referring to this thread and another which discusses how on earth Skoda manages to fit such huge leg room into such a short wheel base, one thing occurred... Is part of the 'smoke and mirrors' packaging explained by the possibility that the Superb is an MPV disguised as an estate?

Consequently, are the back pains due to some drivers trying to set their seating position like a traditional saloon or estate, when they should really go for a higher seat height. Sitting on the car rather than in it?

I have the L&K Hatch/Saloon. Previous 3 Superbb Elegances all had considerable differences with seat feel. My first MkII the feel was tight as a drum and never seemed to soften, second MkII was vbery soft like prevoius Jags. The L&K with the ventilated seats feels different again.

I have degeneration of the spine which at times can be extremely uncumfortable but with all my Superbs I have been able to obtain very comfortable seat adjustment just using the provided electric adjusters.

I have often driven from Cornwall to North Yorkshire and Scotland in single trips and had not discomfort.

It would appear that production line assembly of the seats is not very consistant, and I think that I have been extremely lucky with my vehicles.

I am 5'9"" and now quite a large build as no longer able to do a lot of excersize.

This thread was never about back ache as I've never suffered with it in these seats. The issue has always been about a pain in the a**e due to the narrowness of the seats. I've tried removing the trim (no difference) but have yet to bend the bar as suggested by others. I'm waiting to see if the cushion (ordered by Mayor of Newark) will make a difference.

As stated above never had any problems with seat discomfort, or said anything about back ache. As to buttock pain never had this problem with any of my Superbs despite my now larger frame I have no problem with the seats.

Degeneration of the spine is not back ache just for your info. Degeneration of the spine can possibly cause back ache in some cases, in my post I have read again I have not said any thing about back ache.

Please read before you reply to any posts.

Sorry - I thought the spine was part of the back- my mistake. Anyway, Holahoop7 started mentioning back acheso I just thought I'd get the thread back on track.

Please read all replies before giving a lecture

is this because of bad quality materials used in superb

I think its more to do with the width of the seat base...or rather `lack` of it.

It's my understanding the Superb is build on the Octavia platform - so quite a narrow car. I guess the electic seat control panel doesn't help either

Very true.

Well, I don't have electric seats, nor leather, and right bum/thigh gets totally numb after 15 mins of driving. I've tried adjusting the seat to all possible positions without much difference. I'm relatively small size, so it shouldn't even be the width of the seat. Before Superb, I had Octavia with sport seats, and while they were not perfect, it took way longer drive before getting numbness.

Seat pad will be with me on 28 July. Currently in the 'testing' phase so wrapped in stockinet - if happy over a longer term I'll get it leather covered to match the seats.

So have you now got the seat pads and have they made a difference?
