Just to update you all.

Got the car back from DM Keith today with a brand new gearbox fitted. Not driven the car myself but the wife says it is all good compared to having the previous gearbox in it. I have to say that DM Keith have been fantastic as have Skoda UK who sorted a hire car out for us to use while we were on holiday and our car was in for repair. Shame the car was a Vauxhall insignia but you cant have everything. lol.

I am considering writing to Royce Roberts in Hull where the car came from to inform them of my dissatisfaction with their aftersales atitude, especially that of the service manager. Skoda UK are already aware of the hassle i had with them and i sincerely hope they give them a b0ll0cking.

Thanks again to everyone who gave advice.

Result, you should contact Royce Roberts, if for nothing else then for the satisfaction of knowing you've told them how rubbish they are and that they've lost a customer.

Nice to see SUK coming through - also amazing in the difference between dealers (I use and am more than happy with DMK Leeds).

Good result. My experience despite probably being an over pedantic customer with Skoda as long as you are reosnable & polite has always been good. Again I have an excellent dealer in Winchester Motor Company

When we broke down in the South of France (DPF !! ) I rang Skoda UK after the AA were demonstrating a full blown attack of total incompitence & despite not being their direct problem were brilliant in getting things moving & afterwards reimbursed me for the extra night in a hotel we needed not covered under the AA / Skoda European recovery package

Good to know you got it all sorted.

Send a copy of the letter to SUK referencing the case number. I'm sure they want to know whos performing and who isnt as it affects their sales and brand.

Like you they are my local dealer and although my car came from another dealer I have used them for service & small warranty work and have not been impressed by the attitude of the service manager. The other staff seem fine. My next new car was going to be from them but now having second thoughts in view of your experience. I am sure you know but you can fire and email direct to the boss - his email address is on their website. Looks like they have lost at least 2 customers now which should be a wake up call to the MD.
