Ambrosia is Australian, it's Official

Now i posted here aboutr some stupid idea IMO about Someone activating an Australian Setting for Fog Lights to come on as your select Reverse.

It's standard on UK cars in UK spec.

Both our Yetis are UK spec with no VCDS changes and on both the fogs come on when you select reverse with the dipped headlights on.

I believe you can switch it off using the Maxi-Dot though, as it's part of the cornering light function. :)

The feature only works if you have the Cornering Fogs activated. I've just spoken to Skoda UK Customer Services and it's Perfectly Legal

LOL.... I rest my case...again!!

Know the facts George before you have a paddy son

Always a good way to post in a Forum

Educate me & others then!

Tell us the facts please

Is this the Factory or Dealer setting for the UK,

some VAG vehicles, Illuminate a pair of 'Fog Lights' to the Front when Headlights are on & as you select reverse?

FACTS:

When cornering fogs are enabled on VAG cars..(they do not come enabled on Skodas from the factory for an unknown reason)

I had mine enabled by SIMBO at the Stonetrough Meet I organised last year

They illuminate ONLY at very low speeds when cornering whilst the headlights are turned on

If you turn the wheel to the left....the left fog light illumnates

If you turn the wheel to the right...the right fog light illumnates

When reverse is engaged, they both illuminate

Thats all there is to it

As said..this function is NOT illegal

I think you will find that that is why they do not comply for Type Approval in Europe, because they do not meet C&U.

But i am happy for you to prove me wrong on that.

Write your own Road Traffic acts & Highway code on the use of Fog Lights when not appropriate.

You can think of them as 'Paddy George dafty lights', named after me,

i will continue to consider them as being a warning to 'Car D1ck in motion', now i will add 'In Reverse' to that.

I displayed the facts you asked for and you still argue :wall:

Youre unbelievable !!

Why dont you ring up Skoda and ask them?

Hang on......Andy already did...Did you get that???

Read all the various posts and threads on the forums, since 2010,

heard all the arguments & opinions on VAG , Mercs, EU Approval etc.

Call Skoda, well that would be a waste of time.

No,

i am really happy for the warning of 'Special People,

with Special Lighting needs being on the road.

It gives advance warning to avoid them, & if they need assistance with extra lighting, always happy to assist with some extra from my vehicle.

Thankyou :giggle: :giggle:

can we just call them 'driving lamps' (legal) and pretend this thread never happened

Err... I think you'll find it's the other way round. Europe don't lisen to us, we listen to them.

I think you'll find the top nobs in Europe don't give a stuff about UK C&U regs.

If the car has passed EU Type Approval with cornering and light up fogs for reverse than there is not a lot the UK powers that be can do about it.

And judging by the handbook (which I will dig out at some point, but I am kind of working right now) these fog light features are included and the car does meet Type Approval.

So everything is warm and fuzzy. :)

From page 51 of the owners manual....

Fog lights with the function “CORNER”

The fog lights with the function “CORNER” are designed for a better

illumination of the surrounding area near the vehicle when

corning, parking etc.

The fog lights with the function “CORNER” are adjusted according to the steering

angle or after switching on the turn signal light

1) in the following circumstances:

the vehicle is stationary and the engine is running or it moves with a speed of

maximum 40 km/h;?

the daylight driving lights are not switched on;?

the low beam is switched on or the light switch is in the position ???? and the

intensity of the ambient light causes the low beam to be switched on;?

the fog lights are not switched on;?

no reverse gear is engaged.

NotI

If you engage the reverse gear during the active function “CORNER”, both fog

lights illuminate.

You might want to edit that... :giggle:

Us young un's don't have a problem!

Im on the anti cornering fog side of the fence. Utter utter pointless and forunatly can be switched on and off on the display in my current peugeot.

Nice one Mike

Thanks

Not an Australian setting, a UK setting

Just to add, if I have to jump on the brakes rather hard for any reason the brake lights now flash and the hazard lights are activated as well. A safety feature. I suppose you won't like that either!!

Best not talk about being able to use the front fog lights as DRLs then.

Didnt you activate Cornering Fogs Andy??

Done by the stealer Chris when I picked her up. It was them that turned off the windows/ remote function.

LOOK, DONE BY THE DEALER BEFORE AMBROSIA TURNED AUSTRALIAN . ALSO INCLUDES FOGS ON WHEN SELECTING REVERSE GEAR WHEN YOUR LIGHTS ARE ON. DONE BY THE DEALER.

They suggested washing his face regularly, and then rubbing on copious amounts of Oxy 10

I ain't rubbing anything into anyone.

My new Australian Digital Speedo " Does " go into 3 figures, tested it on my local private road. Didn't have fog's on though, didn't wish to bring attention to myself.

Australian's don't use MPH. They've been metric since ages ago.

Does this mean your octy is now counting NZ medals as it's own?

What a load of tosh.

Cars come with 'Front Fogs' & 'rear Fogs', you switch them on or off in the right circumstance, like you do 'driving lights'.

You use those Lights for Adverse Weather & poor Visibility conditions, you Switch them off as soon as not required, or you should.

There Inappropriate use is 'liable to get you Prosecuted, so you can say 'Not Illegal' or not 'Against the Highway Code' all you like.

That would be decided by a Police Officer and then possibly by a court, not your or the Car Manufacturers opinion.

You chose to 'Display Fogs front or rear in normal Driving situations, You chose to make their Function Automatic in Reversing situations, same thing,

You are the one that decided your **** lights could be on when not required.

You choose Reverse & the Rear Reversing lights come on automatically.

If you were parking in a confined space or in the Privacy of your own DRive or Ground & have on your Side Lights & Dipped Beam, you can chose to put to Full Beam & put some light on the matter.

You could even Switch on your Fog Lights manually to give added illumination.

?So here is my point & question.

Why enable something that then becomes 'Automatic', as in, may be showing to other drivers at Inappropriate times , You might select Reverse & Automatically Switch on 'Fog Lights' or even call them 'Additional Lights' to the Front?

**** Lights.
