Speeding Fines

Featured Replies

They are all climbing on the money making band wagon!!

One of my staff recently picked up a NIP which has been passed on by the lease company. Not only is the person concerned facing a fine and points, but the lease company has levied a

A bit of a cheek, as its part of their buisness, however if they dont forward it pronto, they are guilty of 'failing to nominate' a driver which is points and a fine.

Was it the bit with the roadworks on (temporary speed limit)? If it was, I thought this type of offence was a fine only and no endorsement.

I been along that stretch a few times recently, but was careful to keep to the limit. Only last week I saw a white escort type van at side of road taking pics.[/quote']

Yep, just coming out of the roadworks going towards Derek Slacks. There was a camera mounted really low down. I'll look into what exactly the penalty is, someone from admin filled the form in and posted it back.

Get a lazer diffuser and some flash resistant number plates!!!!!

Flash resistant plates don't work, the police have several filters to see through them.

Not all of them........................................

I'm sure I read somewhere that speeding through a temporary limit (excluding motorways) is a non-endorsable offence.

Worth checking.

Or, even cheaper, just keep to the speed limits ;)

I'd be VERY interested in whether wandering past the Riverside road works at 43mph is an endorsable offence or not :cop1:

I always stay below 50 on the A66 but was late for an appt at Slack's and obviously didn't pay enough attention to the one ince high 30mph signs

What about some numberplates that switch round like James Bonds

It's an urban myth. See below:

There may have been confusion with signs such as these...

... which are only advisory. To be legally enforcable speed limits have to be within a red circle:

... as the ones on the M25 - and soon the M42!!! (they're already up!)

So what are the square ones...square/rectangle with black wording and black border.

Commonly seen on the A55 with a 50 Max Speed but no red ring or nsl nearby, but no end of nsl or re join nsl signage.

For the last 10 years I've taken it as a warning, i.e. you can go above it, but if you have a bump your in doo doo. Given the sections of road are lighted and normally clear there is little reason to slow to 50, except to annoy BM drivers

Colin, ones with Max Speed 50 etc, are totally advisable, but if you have been proven to be doing 70 and crash at that corner, it is conceivable that you'll get a careless driving charge.
