Has anyone fitted/bought one of these?

I have bought and installed one. You may want to read this topic here,

My comments since having one for three months would be.

1) Excellent value for money - better than paying 600+ for the Columbus. Build quality is as good as a Skoda factory fitted model. No issues.

2) Easy to install. Lots of additional wires so quite tricky to position them. Suggest removing the top storage compartment to make this easier.

3) Bluetooth works well. I haven't been able to work out if you can program and store names with the numbers.

4) I haven't been able to get the TV I bought with mine to work. I think it's an aerial issue.

5) Screen can be glary on a real sunny day.

6) I don't have that iPod screen. Every now and then randomly disconnects my iPod. Not sure why?

7) If you have lots of songs on your iPod like I do then it can be tricky to navigate to the song/album when using the touchscreen. Easier to use screen pen.

8) Mine came with iGo8 sat nav maps and they are good. Sat Nav works well.

9) I fitted a Reversing camera which was easy and worked automatically.

I'll add more when I can think of them.

Overall I would recommend purchasing one. No regrets here.

im intrigued although i have a columbus so im not thinking of buying. seem pretty fully featured and pretty good rip off of the columbus :giggle: indeed very cheap for what they offer, although without someone having bought one to test its not an easy task making a decision. surely someone must have one?

Thanks for the reply, and thanks dtm2000.

I would only really be interested in using it for DVDs/sat nav and Bluetooth, so looks like it will do the job nicely from what you say.

I know there are other ones available, but I like to keep the original factory look and that one does look so much like a Columbus.

Looks like I'll be ordering one very soon then :-)

I have this (the 2nd link) installed in my car and have been using it for almost 6 Months now and must confess, I enjoy every little bit of it even today. It does its job perfectly well without any problems. I primarily wanted a Unit which could store lots of songs, BlueTooth and most importantly GPS, which is all bundled in this unit and is complemented with much more like TV, iPod, FM, etc. The build and quality does not let you down in any way, it is a pure value for money.

I also suggest you read the other threads regarding the negative experiences. The Windows CE operating system used on these devices is now very antiquated and software support is poor. MP3 playback is by selecting tracks using a 8.3 filename, the bluetooth integration is basic.

They are hit and miss, get a good one it will work, but get a bad one and you'll spend months trying to get your money back.

Warranty will be the biggest headache if you get a faulty one, since the unit will need to be returned to China.

Also dont forget to factor in import duties into the price which will need to be paid, and 20% VAT which will be charged by HMRC if you are unlucky.
