SN06 PDV - L&K Estate

Featured Replies

Does anyone know anything about this car:

mk2 Octavia 2.0 TDi PD140 - 2006 L&K Estate.

I'm looking around for a mk2 Octy and ideally want a Diesel L&K Estate (If you know of one for sale give me a shout please or a highly specced Elegance)

Looking around on the net today ive come across this one for sale at Rianworths/Bickertons and when I phoned for more detail the salesman said it was actually a PD170.

So i'm assuming its been remapped but I would like to know who's map is on it and since when as well as any other mods that have been fitted (and poss removed).

Thought it was worth a shot on here just in case it's someones old car.

Cheers

Mark

If its tuned, it's still a pd140 engine so it's not a pd170 engine . But if it tuned then they should be making it clear as day that it is modified. If he thinks the car is fitted with the 170 engine from the factory, think you might need to give a lesson to the salesman on skoda's. That sounds as bad when i was looking to buy a mk3 fiesta 1.6sport and a sales man trying to tell me it was the same efi engine as the xr2I and not a carb. the look on his face when we lifted the bonnet to show him a carb. good luck with the car hunting.

Although they dont know any more details i'm pretty sure they know it's a 140 engine and credit where it's due they told me it was 170 but didnt know why, lol.

The plot thickens.

It doesnt particulary bother me if it is remapped as long as I know who's map it is. For Example: If it's a Shark map no problem but if it's a JBS map i'm not interested.

If it ain't a vRS it ain't a PD170...

...unless it isn't the original engine.

Is there a chance the dealer doesn't actually know what they are talking about?

I heard all sorts of absolute first class *******s from Trust in Redditch when my dad was buying his Superb.

Hmmm, gotta go with that. Obviously, the rule of percentages applies with good & bad, but when I went to the dealer in Cranleigh before I placed my order, the salesman had absolutely no idea that the sunroof switch had that extra firm setting/position which opened up the aperture the full distance. He was amazingly confident that it only opened up so far. It wasn't until out of curiousity I looked in the manual in front of him and turned it as described that he sort of grunted but at no time acknowledged that he was talking shyte.

He was a smarmy **** anyway, shmoozing up to some blinged elderly woman who looked like she may have shopped there before and treating the receptionist (and to a lesser extent, us) like cr@p right in front of us. Disgraceful!

I'm going with the wager that the salesman doesn't know what he's talking about. Not like that's happened before :p

Obviously only the vRS was available with the PD170 diesel lump....

It's silver and has tax until the end of Sept Mark - that's all I can tell you ;)

Registered just before the 56 plate release, on 24th Aug.

165g CO2, meaning £170/yr tax. Is it a DSG? Seems weird, as my CO2 is 149g, meaning £135/yr tax.

£170 is correct as the L&K is loaded with extras so the CO2 will be higher compared to an elegance

Extras have nothing to do with it I'm afraid. The only thing that can make a difference will be transmission, hence the DSG question.

Manual PD140 L&K will have the same CO2 output as a manual PD140 Elegance, which is what I have.

This one? estate DSG L&K 2.0PD

Not many about to judge pricing on that one at £8k.

Check the specs, not as much was standard on 2006, some time in 2007 they made more standard. no mention of electric seats.

The cargiant one has been coming soon for over a month now, when I saw the details on the screen it had a location, forget where it said, do they have a body shop/repair center?

Hello all,

I managed to sell my L&K hatchback yesterday (it was on here for sale) and the chap who bought it was also considering the L&K estate at ATD (£5,980) that comes up in the above autotrader search. However, he said that when he did a HPI check it came up as a category D crash repair. It does not state this on the autotrader advert.

I have no idea whether this is true or not (although I have absolutely no reason to doubt him) but if you are considering that car it might be money well spent doing a HPI check.

Good luck with the search Mark.

Thanksfor the heads up DC66 - Thats very good of you to mention it. Your car was a beauty but you are too far away from me. It sold quickly so must have been a very good one. Hope you get the vRS soon, its a great car and the performance will soon make you forget the creatur comforts.

Just to clarify. I know the pd170 is only in the vRS and even if the salesman isnt sure what the car has I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that even he knows its not a 170 engine. I'm also keeping an open mind and not assuming everything he tells me is correct.

He's being vague because he doesnt know any history of the car. He has told me hes left a couple of message for the previous owner to contact him so he can get answers to my questions. From his description he thinks its running at 170bhp but it is listed as a 2.0ltr PD140. So they know its been modifed but dont know how or by who. That to me seems a little odd. If they have took a car on knowing it's modified they should of found out whats been done to it. After all it could be bought by someone who wont have a clue and they are then driving around in a modified car.

The salesman is also saying that because its been modified it wont have 12 months warrenty only 3 months but they still want the premium price.

The mk2 Octavia (Elegance, L&K etc), hatch or estate, Manual is tax band F = £135 for 12 months. A DSG or the vRS are tax band G at £170.

Ive noticed a lot of listings saying the L&K has Xenons but I thought they werent standard on the mk2? I know the headlight washers are standard but I thought the xenons were optional even on the L&K?

And I think I want manual over DSG (not 100% sure yet)

Mark - have now found the ad for the car on Skoda's used car search.

That one does have xenons, as there isn't the levelling wheel for the headlights, next to the dash illumination adjustment. You can see if you select the large image, of the last available picture. I'm in agreement with you, I'm fairly sure that xenons were an option even on the L&K, in the UK at least.

The uncertainty about its modification, and the limited warranty would mark this one as a 'move on' to me.

My 2006MY L&K doesn't have Xenons, IIRC they came in as standard on 2007MY?

Also, my tax is £170 (I have just renewed it) on a manual PD140.

I do have electric drivers seat, leather, auto dimming mirrors, MFSW, Maxidot, tunnel lights, cruise, front fogs, all as standard on the L&K.

Mine originally came fitted with a Stream HU from the factory!

I am sure the emissions came down on the 2007MY vehicles?

Also, when Ben remapped mine the ECU said it was a 'Sport' model, but looked like the original ECU from what he could tell?

I think the 2006MY ones were a bit of an experiment and specs may vary - I have L&K sill plates at the front, but not the rear doors, and it doesn't have the L&K script on the tailgate. The V5 states L&K.

Xenons are optional of pre-FL Octavias and so is ESP,

early ones were basically Elegance with extra equipment + leather seats and don't have the piano black trim / 17" wheels on later L&K models

Yep - 16" Vega alloys on mine

Not on a 2008 model they weren't. Standard.

I agree. My 2006MY came with ASR as standard (so no dreaded ABS controller issues). When I was looking at buying I noticed that all the later L&K's I could find had Xenon's & ESP, earlier ones didn't. I think the split was the 2007MY (but may have been 2008MY) when Stream MP3's were the standard head unit with the AUX-IN in the Jumbo Box, and the MAX Central Convenience controller was introduced which gave Rain Closing and the Convenience Menu in Maxidot.

my tax is £170 (I have just renewed it) on a manual PD140.

Just don't understand that Andy, how there's a £35 annual tax difference between mine and yours! Very odd.

Mine was just before the facelift and it came with an Audience h/u and all the rain sensor stuff as standard. I got absolutely everything on my car, the only optional extras I needed to decide on was front parking sensors, tyre pressure sensor, Columbus and sunroof, everything else was standard.

Love my toys. ;)

The L&K spec does seem to be irratic.

I think from 2008 it steady out and most of the good options were included as standard.

Early versions defo need checking for ASR and Xenons. I've only come across a couple for sale with both. Everything else, even ones listed with ESP and xenons dont have either option fitted.

Wardy - I agree, I think the lack of info and no contact from the previous owner means its a no go. Unless they acknowledge they will have trouble selling it and want to do a deal, lol. I highly doubt it but you can try. I'm waiting for it to come to Bickertons (its at Rainworths ATM) then when I test drive it I should know if its a good one or a steer clear.

Just missed out (by an hour) on a 2008 L&K estate at a very realistic price. It was a high mileage lease car but as long as it drives ok that wouldnt have put me off. I'm a bit dissapointed I didnt get to see/drive it but the guy had done a deal on the phone and the new buyer was due that afternoon.

I will keep my eyes peeled. If anyone spots something of interest or knows someone who might be selling let me know and i'll buy you a couple of beers, lol.

That is quite odd.

All the manual ones ive been checking out are band F @ £135. Will double check in future.

I can tell you now, that the road tax for a 2008 L&K is £215!

Is that petrol?

The 2008 L&K I missed out on wasnt that much.
