Ordered A Pro Sport Coilover Kit, Quick Questions

Featured Replies

Ordered it yesterday after my failed attempts to get handling right with vrs shocks and lowering springs.

I know my S T mounts and bearings are ok, and i have all the tools for removing them, and have done twice already.

Is there anything else i need on top of the kit (keeeping the aforementioned in mind) ? Are nuts all same thread etc? On the rears are top nuts inside the mounts the same?

Cheers, im assuming they all are but a heads up would be useful, as im planning on it being done in under 3 hours (done it in that time already) cos knowing me ill need all day to go up and down until im happy with ride height

Thanks

You should have no need for other parts to fit new suspension, I just always replace all bolts/nuts etc with new coz i am fussy.

On the rears there is no nut inside the mounts only on the outside, but they are the same. I think you get new nuts for front and back in kit anyway.

great cheers, so how do the rear shocks attach at the top? 2 bolts hold a plate up, and the shock goes into that, so what stops it popping out on overcoil?

thanks

A nut on top lol just checked

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

Plate comes off with 2 bolts and a nut on top of the shock goes though it, seems that skoda thought something though to make things easier lol

Ah that was my mystery as aint had em off yet. I like to know all fascets before i delve in as knowing me it would have been a 25mm multispline kit needed, only available at skoda and not for sale.

Fair looking forward to it though, they go 35-85mm drop, im gonna have to try 85mm straight away, and work up from there hehe.

Another wee point, i ordered JOM but the guy at veedubmachines said the ones he would send are pro sport but exactly the same is that ok? i said yes of course, is this true? I take it pro sport is a subsidiary of jom, or superseded them?

Simples as others have said, much easier than the fronts.

Here is a pic diagram of the rear shock

you can see the single nut holding the shock etc to the body mounting bracket that then has 2 bolts to hold it to the body.

Item 10, 11 and 13 in pic.

hope this helps

I would start at mid point for lowering as 85mm will probably be on deck and very bad handling.

Don't know much about JOM collies so can't tell you if Pro Sport are same company or same kit... good luck in fitting buddy...

Cheers man, clear as a bell. Ive changed my normal suspension twice now as an effort to dropping her cheaply, and it worked and was legal but ruined the car, so had to do this, and if i had saved the money i spent on springs and postage for other shocks etc, i could have paid 60% of the price of the coilies i had to buy anyway.

Always the way, i try to save cash and end up having to spend more
