New Range Rover revealed.

Lost the ladder frame and gone over to aluminium.

What was wrong with the defender style ladder frame with aluminium panels :)

They have to have the vehicle platform ready for fitting different and various drivetrains for when things changes to Euro 6 then Euro 7 engines and Emissions.

Smaller capacity engines and Electric motors at the rear providing the AWD as required.

The last/ current RR was a Monocoque, no ladder frame AFAIK.

I prefer the outgoing version... :(

True. Range Rover has had no chassis since 2001.

Unlike the Disco/RRS which retained a chassis of sorts, combined with a rigit shell to make it very strong in what they called Integrated Body Frame.

Well looking at the link I can see a good game of 'Spot The Difference' with a prize of winning one if you can spot every change thats been made.

I suppose 430kg is quite easy to loose in a 'wardrobe on wheels ' of that size.

It's still 20% though.

Like I said before drop 20% of weight off every car out there and watch the VED Tax take on new cars plummet.

"The result is that the luxury SUV is 'up to 420kg' lighter than the model it replaces, suggesting a 'kerb weight' of 'about 2.4 tonnes'"

No vehicle actually drives about at 'kerb weight' it trundles along at around its Gross weight..

A little bit of a lighter Bloater is still a Fat Barsteward, as i am often told..

It does look fat irrespective of the weigh saving. I don't think that colour helps.

I'm sure I'll get a chance to get a good look at the front grill shortly when some rich arse drives it right up my chuff on the motorway.

They are not.

The RRS is on the Disco platform. The next RRS will be on the new Range Rover platform, but it is still in development.

The full fat version of the Range Rover is being released first, before the new sport.

Thats what I said....oops well the RRS that I see every day and the RR are on the same platform!

Sorry, but currently the two models use two totally different platforms, as Richard has said.

I'm guessing he works around or near the new RRS development mules Graham, which would explain it. :)

Disco 3 or 4 & RRS with the same platform with Body off for Gearbox, Turbo work and other bits a pieces.
