High mileage Vrs

Featured Replies

I have had my Octy Vrs CR since May as a replacement for my petrol one due to massive increase in my mileage (25k per year).

I will be keeping it for at least 7 years at which point I retire and it will have around 175K.

Does anyone on here have any experience of high mileage 170BHP CR engines?

Views on additives in fuel or premium diesel to keep injectors/engine clean.

Any parts that are affected by high mileage (I know about the DPF and dual mass flywheel issues on diesels).

Anyone know of any independent Skoda/VW/Audi garages in Kent. (I live near Canterbury).

Thanks in advance.

175K should be a walk in the park for the engine, just keep up with the service regime and replace things as required.

Only 2 concerns I would have, would be the DPF as it is a consumable part and will require replacement at some point. Also the turbo vaines may clog up, however both of these can be sorted.

I think one of the magazines (Evo?) did a long-term test of "premium" fuel and found that the engines that had been running on the premium fuels had less carbon deposits in them? (well, I remember reading it on here, anyway!)

You can probably add the turbo to that list, as they can fail. An acquaintance got rid of their 2008 170bhp (PD) A3 at 98k, due in part to the turbo "having a hole in it".
