Removing Spark Plug Leads

Featured Replies

Having fitted new spark plug leads to AUB Fabia 1.4 engine in February, I was surprised at the difficulty in removing them from the plugs as they got stuck on the walls of the tubes down which the plugs go into the head.

Someone mentioned a 'silicone' lubricant the Ford sell to prevent the 'sticktion' I have experienced which also can damage the leads on removal.

Any ideas folks?

A small amount of any type of silicone grease or oil should help, and would also be compatible with the rubber, (vaseline for example would attack the rubber and break it down). It would also help prevent possible difficulty starting due to water/moisture.

Does anyone have a brand name for this? Would it be Ford or would a motor factor have an equivalent?

Thanks, I'll have a look at it.
