  • Here you go southy, the fabia is 140mm at its widest and the ibiza is 100mm. It is also alot lighter than the fabia item. Also my fabia crash bar is the shorter type as there are two types thats wh

Just waiting on a few pipes to replace the top pipe work from egr. All my pipes from the turbo to my inlet will now replaced. Just need to get my turbo on now :S

And half hour after from my last post they turned up and i done a quick mock up

Looks good mate!

When's the turbo due to be bolted on?

  • Author

hopefully end of this month its going for the turbo, egr delete and full exhaust. making a cone in a box like jabbasport aswell, just for something to try more than anything else :)

Looks gash without the crash bar and empty

Crash bar also stops front end flex and really needs to be there. Even chopped a bit will be 100x better than none at all

I prefer it without the crash bar! You see some of those new Peugeots with them on show and they look so gash! Not to mention the stone chips stand out like mad!

  • Author

i like the no crash bar look. i think the bar looks gash as you put it. also it has no effect on flex as its not part of the chassis

Got 5 minutes on the cooler today when i got home from work before it rained :(

Plumbed the one side in now to what will be the egr delete, this was the trickier side the other half will be straight forward.

just wondering what thickness is the intercooler mate and also are u putting the crash bar back on?

  • Author

it is 76mm thick i think. i wont be putting the fabia crash bar back on no, i have been looking for an ibiza one or even a polo as ive looked into it and they look as if they will fit with no issue and are thinner and look alot neater.

Looking at that pic makes a FMIC look so simple. I may even consider doing my own and using the original boost pipes to an extent.

Are they ibiza / polo crash bars smaller / thinner or something?

  • Author

they seem to have a larger gap betweek the back of them and the ac rad. i think are alot better looking aswell being one smooth bar.

That does look a lot neater. Something that you wouldn't mind being shown behind the grill. I never noticed the difference before. Suppose you could have it powder coated to and it would look good and the finish would hold up!

yes exactly what i was thinking. the fabia one if very unsightly i think.

Had the chance to try my cousins crash bar today and it is alot better than the fabia one, it needs slight trimming but nothing like the fabias one needs.

So as it was pay day today i went on an ebay spree and bought myself one for the some of £29.38 :) , also bought another pipe i needed as i stupidly ordered the wrong one :S and bought myself a cone filter to make my own cone in a box just to try it out.

Great stuff! Could you PM me where you got your pipe work from? Looks so good with a FMIC behind the grill

Pm'd mate. Also if i had a thinner cooler the ibiza bar would fit no problem but i opted for a chunky beast :)

Trimming... Maybe/maybe not. One i/c install I've read of spaced the bumper bar forwards a tad, also moved the rad pack backwards a tad.

With this being a different bumper bar, might be worth seeing how much scope there is for spacing it off the frame to avoid having to cut it.

i dont know why i didnt think of that actually. i might make some spacers up and see if it fouls my bumper.
