Offset

Featured Replies

Im buying some rota gtr's for the vrs and i dunno what offset to get et35 or et42 i can get them in any help guys

And can get 18x8 or by 8.5 same again so theres no rubbing on arches etc

i know et42 is the offset of seat cupra alloys

35 YOU want.

42 will be too close in and will narrow the car. Thats if they will fit.

Just on this subject, is the width of the wheel irrelevant to the offset?

For example, if a 7J wheel needs et 35 to be flush, will an 8J need et 42?

So by looks of that i want 5x100 et42 with 215 35 18 tyres is that correct

Right they only do them in 5x100 et35 or 5x100 et48 which ones would be best lowered on coilovers

Et35 5x100 mate

Et42 is mk2 really , they'd sit in abit much

Again 8j rims on a mk1 et35 will spot on :)

Should look nice bud, its the most widely used offset here

Ive had 8x18 / 8x19 and 8x20 all fine lowered too mate

Actually the 19s are et30 but :) hey ho still fine at my height

The 18s and 20s were wearing 225s :)

Would you say et30 is what you should be looking at for getting her flush/tiniest poke?

Ideally to keep the steering angles right and the feel of the car you nees to match the offset and the widthe of the rim.

Might just be me but i can feel any slight difference in the car. Found an 8j rim and et35 is a nice flush fitting wheel that sits nice and keeps the angles about right. Anything down to et32 should be fine but then that is only on a 7.5j rim ie audi S3 rims.(my next wheels when funds allow)

Ive had aftermarket wheels and tbh none make the car feel nice not sure why but just somethings there that makes the car feel not as good?

Hence why i sticking to oem rims from one of the mk 4 platform cars.

Only exception is kwhen putting spiders on my fabia. Only had them on a week and sold as they ruind the feel of the car. Prob due to the size and extra weight over the std 16s which are very light. Also the offsets ment i was narrowing the car down by 2mm each side and an extra 1/2 " each side

Std rims 6.5j 16 et37

Spiders 7j 17 et38

To sort out other offsets down in the et40 ppl uses spacers and adapters but tbh if you dont need hem dont use as they are crap imo as ive had nothing but trouble.

Wobble and bad driveing experience.

Also o that sight will ahow you best tyre size combo to get to keep speedo right.

Really good site

Billy

Very helpful Billy. Thank you! Good to hear you commend the feel of the spiders. I assumed something lighter would feel better.

I'm sure they've changed them over the years, so which s3 alloys are you coveting??

I had a set of s3 wheels on mine for a week with standard 225/45/17 conti sports on and they rubbed like mad with weight in back so put spiders back on.

It did feel to handle slightly better though prob due to wider tyres and offset of wheels

The s3 rims basically widen the car. They are the widest ones for the mk4 chassis hence the rubbing and better handling.

Its the avensus iirc?

Look ok and are 17"

Take it they are 225 45 17 as std unlike our 205 50 17 on a 7 j rim?

Did you have coilovers on when you had the rims on?

I will have but wont de low. About std rear and slight low on front. Am hoping that the s3 rims will just fill the arches a bit like the td pro race 1.2 i had.

Aftermarket rims are not the best plus lighter isnt that good neither. I ffound it was ok but the fact the rims were bigger they had less grip so canceled out.

Did feel about same at speed. Reps i had on also were not good for high speed. Went very loose and light.

Yeah i have coilovers but they are jom ones so not the best,

If I went for aftermarket it would be a set of OZ or something, not cheap rep junk.

Any experience with Superleggeras on the vRS, Billy? I was looking at 17's in them, but wondering if they'd look a little lost, since they tend to look smaller than they are.

My et30 do sneak out a smidge but also why i have a small stretch

Et35 8j will sit nice and pretty flush and could use a 225 tyre mate, alot depends on the end reult your after :)

Na sorry would love some tho but at £1300+ i dont think ill be gettin any lol

The td rims i had were only a few g more than the oz ultra or super legs. And at half the price i went with them and would still have them but they needed spacers to cleary brakes so got rid when i put brembos on.
