Lightweight tripod for Florida

Featured Replies

Hi folks

I'm off to Florida in 3 weeks and this will be my second trip out there. Last time I really wished I had a tripod with me however, my current tripods quite heavy as I often plonk it in rivers etc. been looking for a cheapish very light but sturdy tripod to support a canon 550d and a 70-200 f4 lens possibly with a battery grip too.

Be looking to spend about £50 new or used as long as its light and sturdy and fits in a suitcase lol.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I took a monopod on my travels abroad, worked alright but it really depends what kind of shots you would take..?

There was a Hama mini one I saw in a magazine if you subscribe to it.

If anyone else got any suggestions I would be interested in a lightweight tripod to carry along half day trips etc.

May I suggest you seriously consider the Gorillapod - e.g.

Pick the one to suit your equipment. Anything you can wrap it round becomes your tripod! Economic price, versatile and packable. Add a basic ball-and-socket head for more options.

Great suggestions here. I already own a gorilla pod iand it's great. It just lacks the height to be able to see the live view comfortably.

I have found http://www.amazon.co.uk/7dayshop-Tripods-Fully-Featured-Tripod/dp/B002JJCNQO/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A3TLXN00XR34MU

Wonder if it any good? For ten bucks I can't see it being great but if it gets broken in transit its no major loss and it's light and extends to a fair height. I mite order one up see how it feels.

I bought one of THESE for holidays, going out walking etc. Cracking little tripod for the money. Always keep it in the boot of my car just in case.

Yeah I just order the one in my link above. For the money and the reviews seem good. I'll let you know how it is when it arrives. Maybe the more expensive models maybe worth buying for an everyday tripod. Like the Hama one you mentioned very good to throw in the boot and leave it there for when you go for a stroll or stumble across a nice waterfall or river
