Took a little trip to shrewsbury today to pick up my hybrid turbo from a guy called dean (speedy_vrs) who has started a new business up with his brother called dirty-torque who specialise in vag cars but also work with many others. I got talking to him a few weeks back now and is one of the friendliest down to earth people i have ever met and is willing to help in anyway possible. He sorted me out with a garret pd130 hybrid with a very good turn around time and needless to say I am a very happy customer who will/is going back for more products that he offers. The company is just getting of the ground and I think will be a big name in years to come. 

So basically this is just a big thank you for helping me out with all this trouble I have been having with my car and highly recommend them to anyone.

Yes he sells a full kit for the gtb, i seen it all today and wish i saved abit more for it haha. He had an ibiza that he just finished there today and looked great. Seen the manifold up close to and it looks awesome.

Any idea on the price mate for the GTB kit?I was thinking of getting my bosses mate to fabricate a manifold for me using the flanges you can buy from DSD and source the other parts separate to reduce cost.

As said drop him a pm is the best bet but the price isnt to bad i dont think.

I was just after a gauge tbh as I doubt it will be till later on next year really, after some wheels first and most likely need a SMF before then as I'm starting to have early signs of DMF failure

We have held off from doing this for a while now after stumbling across the Dirty Torque website, but since Dean and Karl are now getting customers to plug them on the forums and also dropping hints about their turbo kits when people ask about our kits, I think it is time we tell the truth on how Dirty Torque Developments came about.

I own Darkside Developments with my bro Ryan.

Dean from DTD bought an old turbo setup from Ryan around April last year. From there he sent over 200 emails asking about everything you can imagine to do with diesel tuning. When he was down on cash we helped him out by buying some parts from him for much more than we usually would. We even sold him Powergate Tool so he could tune the ECUs as he wanted to be a 'dealer' for our products and needed us to help him set up a website to advertise the products on. He would be our ‘fitting centre’ down South.

Dean knew who we used for some of our fabrication work, and must have decided to cut us out of the picture. We later found out that Dean drove from getting a load of money from us, straight to the fabricator to discuss their new business venture!

We used this particular fabricator for 1 Manifold and some flanges. All the flanges were all bent and the manifold had very poor welding, so we decided not to use him again. Since then we have heard some horror stories of the manifolds he makes breaking and poor customer service etc.

We paid for the jig for the manifold and the CAD for the flanges so it is yet another stepping stone we created for DTD.

Since we declined to help Dean with the website (why should we help someone set up a business?), he seems to have took it upon himself to use all of our information as his own.

We fitted that kit with our own bare hands as well as doing all the tuning, it was one of the first we did. Karl, Dean’s brother bought it from the customer we did all the work for (Luke) and now they are passing it off as their work!

If price is all someone is bothered about, I am sure they will go with the DirtyTorque Kit, but we have sold 70 Turbo Kits in just over 18 months, so that shows you something. We used Brand New Genuine Garrett Turbochargers with a 1 Year Warranty, and our Manifolds and Downpipes have a lifetime warranty against cracking. You need to compare apples with apples. Their kits are a little cheaper than ours, but we don’t make a crazy amount on them, so something has got to give. You squeeze on price, you have the squeeze on quality somewhere.

I am sure Dean will come up with some crazy story about how we are lying and that everything was their own idea, but he thinks we are stupid, getting his brother and friends to email us and ring us to ask advice on what to fit etc. Its not clever, it just makes them look like novices.

They are also claiming 328bhp at the flywheel with a set of Firad 80% Injectors. I have no doubt the Injectors will do that power, but there is no way the stock head and camshaft will flow that amount of power, no matter how much fuel, NOS, Water/Meth or fairy dust you pile in there.

You can buy the fake Adidas, or buy the real deal. Its your choice.

I hope you are a member of the FSB (Federation of small businesses) as they would be able to give you alot of very good free legal advice.............as if it was me I'd be taking legal action..........especially if he is decieving people into thinking that they did the development work etc to the kits on their demo car!!!..........when it was all done by you when you owned the car!

Also I hope you have all those emails as these would be good proof of where all his "expertise" came from if it ended up in court!!!!

Just to let people know that fabia no longer has the the darkside kit on as i have seen it myself, yes the darkside kit removed on the bench and there manifold is different being slightly yes and abit smaller but you cant have much choice as they will have the same start and end point. I have talked to dean about darkside and he has never said one bad thing about them. He has started a buissness catering mainly on diesel vag cars and is bound to step on a few peoples toes so to say but who can start a buissness these days with out doing the same? I wont say anymore on this subject as i will let dtd have theyre say and dont wont to get into this as i think it is the wrong way about it. I have alot of respect for darksides work as jasons mongrel for one is epic and i have alot of respect for dtd for trying to get things started and i wont lie have found a good friend in dean from all his help. So....peace out.

It is probably the wrong way to go about it and it is the last thing I want to do, but we have let it lie for 6 months with people calling and emailing fishing for information rather than DTD figuring things out for themselves. I have a lot of respect for anyone starting their own business, its hard work and takes a lot of effort, but copying someones business and ideas is much easier. Companies that have gone about things the right way work with us and everyone is happy. We have dealers and customers all over the world.

At the end of the day, we are not hurting for work, that was not the motivation for this. I've said it on the other threads, Dean is a nice guy and we never had any issues with him until we found out all this. When money is involved, friendships go out of the window. We are only young but found that out a long time ago.
