Even if it did end up wanting an engine I'd still want to know why first, bits might have gone into the engine but what damage has it done if any?

It's rare to see shards get into the engine, most bits end up in the intercooler.

Only way i'd scrap the engine is if the bore is badly damaged... piston / cylinder head can be an easy repair if its only pitting.

You can't 'repair a piston', have you ever seen damage to a piston crown due to bit's of crap getting inside a bore? It's a nasty sight and there is no way to repair the damage, simply a case of replacing the piston's once the block has had a glaze bust.

You get similar kind of finish to a piston crown when an engine runs too hot, material is 'pulled' from the top of the crown in small sections.

Also depending on how large the debris was that entered the engine the head may/may not be scrap also. We have a cylinder head at work off a race mini where the piston has blown the lands on it and the debris has smashed against the head and sat on the underside of the valve's. It's completely smashed the valve seat to piece's and is beyond repair. Customer wasn't too happy when he was told his 2k head was scrap after 4months of use and to be told there was no warranty due to being used in competition.

It went bang at 115 so was under a fair bit of pressure. Turned engine off straight away. Then started it for Maybe 5 seconds to take a video of the smoke and that's it

Got new engine with 79k on it (less than the one that is fooked) and brand new clutch, flywheel and cylinder. Yes the clutch is standard one but its the one that Dark Side Developments sell and use on their cars so im sure it will be fine for 180 bhp

Same here. I had mine about 7 months aswell before it went pop and have put abit of money into aswell. Im thinking like you aswell with selling, there isnt much point and i have more plans for it now aswell lol.

I had all sorts of plans like piecing together my full exhaust system that I've got most of and new injectors and that but I'll just be happy to be sat behind the wheel again drivin it to be honest lol

Didnt know Derv Doctor was still about, I sent an e-mail no reply.

The last guy I knew that had a Derv Doctor map on his PD130 wasnt epically fast, and abit smokey but didnt blow up so not to bad hah.

I feel for you, I have destroyed 6 turbo's now not had to replace the engine :/
