Car is being fixed up at 'Derv Doctor'

Featured Replies

As some of you will probably know, my fabia blew up last week due to the turbo going bang :( going down a dual carage away and the car really started to struggle then it just went in a massive cloud of smoke

Was sat in a pub car park miles away from home for a week looking sorry for itself with oil just dripping out the exhaust

So yesterday i got it recovered and got it taken to a very remote place up in the hills of Derbyshire to a company called 'Derv Doctor'.

There, it is having a brand new Garret turbo fitted instead of the kkk, and then a proper remap afterwards. He assures me that this car has blown so many turbo's due to the previous, poor remap. Hes saying that the car will be running loads better after the work, and even eliminate black smoke! Really exited to get her back now

Will post more when i hear something

170bhp 370ft lb <---- bad remap, lol really

Lol... Sounds like a soot chucker to me!

They sound like they know what they are doing and hopefully have it sorted.

Do you know what kind of map they doing for you?

You should be looking at more around the sub 300ft lb of torque really. Might not have the same "shove" as the previous map but will probably be a more progressive and smooth map.

Those arnt accurate figures guys. I put them when I first signed up when I bought the car off the lad who had fed me bull**** about the figures and bein a noob I believed him.

This guy is a tunin god.

Hopefully I'll be happy with the results

Yep have heard good things about Derv Doctor :)

Yep have heard good things about Derv Doctor :)

I agree had a mk3 Golf TD they had played with was a totally different car afterwards

How does he know its a bad map? Its not like he could drive it to say it was a bad map?

Do you know who originally mapped it?

Very unprofessional slating another company to gain business IMHO.

Adam

A slipping clutch, knackered dmf, 3 turbos in 2 years and a black tail gate is a hint of poor software! I'll show you more once had a look at the software that's in it

No one is slating off another company specifically. Just a general slating of bad mappers, of which there are plenty around....

Sorry that sounded a bit harsh - My Apologies

It just seamed strange to me that the car had gone for a turbo and they said It had a bad map on it, But now I know the facts it makes sense!

So we guessing torque limiter set to stupidly high values, duration maps and smoke limiter fudged. oh and probably a none altered N75 map :)

Slipping clutch happens on standard cars, as does DMF failure, especially if the driver doesn't drive correctly so I think blaming that on a poor map is frankly laughable.

Well if you call a blanket +25% on the torque limiter, which allows 74 mg of fuel as soon as it goes above idle pretty much. Driver demand map 78 mg at very high rpm. blanket 10% for smoke limiter (66 mg) a wildly change N75 map and 2722m bar of boost at max rpm. If that's good then the software is perfect hehe

And I'm guessing duration maps don't go past 60mg but values altered?

The previous map was a poor one fact, it was ceap and nasty and by sounds of things, half a job

Gav at derv doctor knows exactly what hes on about, got an amazin reputation, every customer knows when they leave their car there that it is in good hands and will get the car back an be pleasently suprised

Can't wait to get her back now, exited to see the transformation :) roll on tomorrow :)

Nice. Good job it never found its way into the engine.

  • Author

yep! just shot it all into the downpipe along with all my oil lol

  • Author

GREAT! Looks like i need a new engine

Care to elaborate? Doesn't sound good though, sorry to hear.

Ouch

  • Author

Basically when the turbo has exploded, it sent most of the internals of it into the down pipe but unfortunatlly some shards of metal have got in the engine

cheaper to replace then repair
