Erm cars broken. Clouds of white smoke

Featured Replies

So come on. What's broke here? Turbo??

My balls are golden not crystal but that's not good. White smoke is more than likely coolant I'd say, oil tends to be blue, fuel might be white but usually black.

Does it smell of burning oil? I would say turbo as my smoke was the same thickness but i had alot of oil aswell. Did it happen while driving aswell and you got a woosh sound and loss of power? I wouldnt start it again i would get it towed home you dont want to risk getting shards of turbo were you dont want it.

It's smells horrible. It's spat oil all over the back of my car. Yeah it happened when I was drivin. Seems to start to struggle top end then went pop all of a sudden. Looked behind and a huge cloud of smoke was there

Thats turbo mate its exactly what happened to me when mine went pop. Like i said i wouldnt start it again as you will risk more damage.

What's best way to fix this then, cheapest and best..

Replace turbo and oil feed pipe etc

Clean turbo system of debris (if any, depends on how the turbo has gone)

Possible new exhaust, or at least a lot of running/smoke to burn the oil off (depends on how bad it's gone)

Gutted for you buddy :( if its gone bad and the impeller has come off or any signs of metal or fine bits any where. I personal do what tech1e said take all pipes off and intercooler ect would take the sump off and check for bits of turbo just incase then buy some cheap oil run on tick over to flush the oil system.

Hope this helps

My mate used to have turbos go on his rally car and he fitted a metal gauze like filter for the oil to go through before the turbo

and just cleaned it out avery now and again as the beauty of it was that it actually filtered better than the standard oil filter

cos they have no bypass valve in them like an oil filter has when it gets blocked... Hope this helps
