As per the title I have a Pipercross Panel Air Filter to fit a Mk1 Octavia Vrs 1.8T. It is a direct replacement for your original air filter.

Only been on the car for approx 5k.

According to Pipercross's website, you can wash in normal water and re-oil when necessary. They state that the lifespan of the filter is three times that of a normal paper filter.

do you know the part number?

if it's pp1389, as far as I know, they don't require oiling (I didn't oil mine)

Does it have a 3rd red layer of foam? If so its a pipercross dry filter so no oil ; ) if its a 2 layer then it is an oil based unit. Hope this helps.
