LED Strip Lights (like some use for aftermarket DRLs).......

Featured Replies

......but not for the front of the car.

Mum's got a new WAV (Wheelchair Accessable Vehicle). The previous owner had fitted chav-DRLs to the inner side of the tailgate so that the chair ramp is lit when the tailgate is open. To me, this is a great idea as dad can see to fit the secure-winch to the chair before loading mum into the car. However, these lights aren't particularly bright and half of one strip has failed. So, I thought I'd replace them with some new, brighter ones.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what ones to get? Length isn't an issue ;)

Thanks

Take a look at any modern ambulance, these are fitted to the doors around the tail lift. They also have red ones to aid rear visibility that only turn on when the rear doors are opened.

Not sure where they source them from though, sorry.

My only other advice would be to avoid the cheap ones on eBay...

I bought a pair of cheap LED DRL's on ebay to use as additional lights in the boot. They contain 10 leds and provide a very good light, so those may be suitable.

I have one of these that I use in the garage. Very bright and the battery seems to last well.

One on either side door and you won't have trouble seeing much.

I see no reason why it couldn't be wired up permanently.

Magnetic backplate sticks like wotsit to the proverbial too.

As for the red LEDs, I reckon you have a couple of choices.

Cheap ish LED flexible strips from Maplin or similar, or specialist emergency vehicle LEDs. The last choice can work out quite expensive though

from Beacons and Lightbars. Good reputation.

They have a whole variety
