swapping sub box?

Hi all,

I currently have a Rockford Fosgate punch 120 amp (old one) and a JBL 12" sub in a 13x13x16" unvented box, with the amp mounted at the rear.

I have this in a Toyota Avensis which is fine as the boot it huge, but I will soon be buying a mk1 fabia VrS, which has a smaller boot. I am thinking of halving the size of the box and moving the amp somewhere else. Is making the box smaller going to have much impact on the sound, volume or quality of the bass that it currently has?

generally it will make it punchier, less efficient, faster.
