Whats the best thing to use to clean up Egr and intake manifold ?

Featured Replies

I've just bought a Egr Delete kit and well i have a spare inlet manifold from my other spare engine and well it's completely full of gunk and tar ect..... i'am wondering the best way to tackle it and get it all cleaned up ready for my egr delete coming

Proving you've removed sensors/pollisters, brake cleaner will work just fine.

EGR is alot easier to clean, but the intake is a pain, and the only way is alot of water and special cleaner.

I use a garden hose, and a large container.Pressurized water is better. You have to run water and cleaner into the intake untill no dirt fragments will get out.Is a time consuming job.

yeah well i've got time since the spare intake is already off the other engine so i'am not worried about how long it takes just want to make sure i do it and well do a good job, thanks for the tips so far :D

Now if you can get access to trichloroethylene, that will clean it in seconds...

managed to clean the most of it used brake cleaner and a screw driver, then a high pressure steam cleaner seems to have done a good job :p
