Big drop of in performance ........ Again !

Featured Replies

After a remap a few months ago I had the common problem of DV valve failure , fixed it with the rev D valve . All was well for a couple of months now I am getting similar symptoms , lack of power and poor throttle response . Also I,m experiencing rough idle its revving too high about 1100 rpm with occasional jumps up to 1500 rpm . I'm starting to get a bit ****ed off now had no problems before car was mapped .

Had a look on the forum ,could pcv valve cause these problems ?

Yes.

Could someone explain what the PCV valve does , is it a diy job ?

This isn't a particularly common fault, but it does sound like the PCV valve. They split and cause exactly these symptoms.

Does anyone have the part number for the pcv valve ? Think I will have a go at fitting it myself .

It's defo a DIY job, the hardest part is getting the engine cover off. Then you just need to unclip the attached hoses and undo 4 T25 screws.

For the part number, it depends on the age of your car, for the earlier TFSI you want the Type N PCV: 06F 129 101 N

For the later TFSI you'll need the type P which has a relocated rear breather hose: 06F 129 101 P

Could also be a damaged or broken oil filler neck if it's a tfsi, as it needs to deal in order for the pcv to work.
