Just bought a new Yeti

Featured Replies

Well last week we were on our way back to Dorset when a warning light came on the dashboard of our Fabia greenline.

We called in at the nearest dealer which was Palmers in Watford must say they were brilliant. They did not have the required part in stock so we decided to stay the night at a local hotel they ran us to the hotel the car was fixed the next morning washed and hoovered they even helped keep our two four year olds entertained while it was all sorted.

Anyway they had a lovely 2.0tdi grey Yeti urban in the showroom so asked for a price on our car which they had look at and came back with the price i expected plus after a bit of negotiation a discount and a few extras on the Yeti so we bought a new car which we collect on Sept 1st cant wait it really is a lovely car and really nice colour with the black and silver wheels.

Thanks again to a top dealer they even showed my kids around the workshop and the cars outside as the were getting a bit bored waiting for the fabia to be fixed plus sorted the hotel took us there and collected us the next day they would have given us a loan car but was to far to go home and come back all in all a breath of fresh air best service i have ever had.

I'm very fortunate that they are my local.

The showroom is quite small but that is part of the charm.

Room for the models in the range is enough.

I've had 3 cars from them so far and will be back for another when the time comes.

I've always found them very helpful.

The after sales is good too. They regularly offer to collect my Yeti and deliver it back to me after service.

Thats one thing that threw me with Skoda v some other dealers, I was frankly shocked at the helpfulness of them not just the sell but the after care as well. Although I'm very new to the world of Skoda. Congratulations on the new addition.

So did you buy the showroom car or one on delivery? Sounds good regardless. I'm really happy with mine (ex showroom car) although I've only had it for just over a week.

Yes was on the showroom room floor a 2.0tdi urban in metallic grey getting sept 1st so we get it on a 62 plate very nice car looks like we were quite lucky to call in when we did

Nice one AndyDorset, looks like you were at the right place right time scenario that most of us hope for. Well done! Mine was a pre-registered model from March this year so I've lost 6 months on the waranty but these things seem to be pretty good overall. A few grand off and no wait plus a few goodies with only 41 miles on the clock sealed the deal for me. You'll love it!

Yes cant wait we used to have a octavia vrs estate in red had it five years from new without a problem ended up trading it in for a new freelander 2 but was not cheap to run and my wife found it to big to park.

We traded it for a fabia greenline estate had four years now did think about another vrs but we only do 5.000 miles a year and with insurance and resale value the yeti seemed a better bet for us we have four year old twins and the yeti seemed better in the back for them as well.

Looking forward to bringing it home to Swanage on Sept 1st.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. Not sure where you are in Dorset, but there is a Skoda dealer in Corfe Mullen called Westover Skoda.

Nice one on the new yeti you are going to love it

I when to get my new yeti today  (well new to me) it's a 1.2 TSI elegance on a 11 plate all i can say is what a car it's the best skoda i've had

Yes i have been to the one in Corfe mullen rude staff was like they are doing you a favour by servicing your car told me my car needed work which i did not believe so took it to another skoda garage who could find nothing wrong.

As far as im concerned they are a bunch or robbers and looking at they reviews of them im not the only one would never give them a penny.

Unfortunately, they are not what other people experience with skoda dealers. I had a very poor test drive with them. Accompanied by the sales guy, who dictated the route, at least 50% of which was dual carriageway. Not interested in discussing price, rrp take it or leave it was the option.

Obviously we took the latter and eventually placed an order with Lookers - with a decent discount to boot!

There arn't that many yetis in Dorset, so I'll keep my eyes peeled if we head over to the purbecks later in the year

Talk about right place, right time. Fate perhaps?

And only 5 days to wait rather than 5 months :)

Best go buy a lottery ticket ;)

Great service by the sounds of it, far better than my recent experience of my local dealer. Took delivery of my Citigo last month and a new Yeti on the 1st Sept, might be looking for a new dealer when the time comes to change.

Enjoy your Yeti it's a great car, hope our second yeti is as good as the current one.

Funnily enough, I had a similar experience with Heritage Skoda in Yeovil (not too far away). I gave them a couple of months to offer me a better deal, they took the approach of "RRP is as low as we'll go", they even gave me some BS about "We can't offer any discounts or we'll lose our franchise". Needless to say, after having bought my last car from them and had it serviced for 5 years, I walked and found a good deal on an Urban in Lookers (£900 off RRP) which I picked up 2 weeks later. I've now had it over a month and done around 1500 miles on it (compared to a typical annual mileage of 7-8k) and I'm loving it.

Ha, we must have been following each other around!

We went to them after the other numpties.

We were first in on a pre-booked Saturday morning test drive.

The guy was very helpful as far as the test drive went, we were asked to bring it back by 11:30 as that was the next booking, which was great.

We both had a drive, and we had a 6' friend along as a passenger.

We moved the back seats around, took the middle one etc etc.

Went back to the dealer all very positive and keen to buy.

Then we got the same old story.

I think its a lot to do with the location of the dealer. Perhaps those down south have less of an issue selling cars (maybe not)!

I then contacted lots of other dealers quoting a price derived from DtD, some would offer a small discount, others less.

Then I spoke to George Field at Lookers, who after some discussion with his Manager came back with an excellent price. Needless to say he had the order there and then
