How to install LEDs under seats

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me (im total noob) how to install Led lights on both seats in my 2012 superb. I have replaced all halogen lights with led, and front footwell lights look awesome so i'd like to install rear footwells too.

Picture of how i want them to look (from some vw golf)

These would probably be the correct lights?:

Superbs seats have a hole (i believe for that purpose) so im gonna place them right in that hole. But i dont know how to wire them. I'd like to connect them with front footwell lights so i could control luminosity of leds (if thats even possible to connect them that way) on the superbs computer.

Can anyone give step by step instructions? :)

Stick fingers from inside seat foam and out on further side where the power plug goes.

Or use a screwdriver and between lent and seat metal (you can see a spot) and lift/pull out same side as above

Try a search, explainations have been on here before

I just looked and I have foot lights also for rear seats. If needed I can take some fotos and figure out how wires are done.

Hello Anthony. I want to do the same. How did you connect the lights?

Thanks for response...

Rene77, this thread is very old.

The bulbs are the same w5w as in the front footwell and rear door (estate)

just buy some decent w5w led bulbs (avoid plastic base types)

This should be of some help. The LEDs I used for this application were awful, they turned from white to purple after a few days, so went back to standard bulbs.

Hello superbdreams.

Sorry... Maybe it is wrong topic.

Just what I am asking for if there are some cable already to connect foot lights under the seat.

I have only front foot lights and I want to install rear lights too.

If there are no cable how can I connect into the socket under the seat.

Thanks for response.

I do not know the answer sorry. I was not aware that any superbs were sold without rear footwell lighting.

It would seem most likely that the cables would be there somewhere and also the cutout for the lamp to fit within but I do not know this for a fact either.

I did this and there were no wires under the back seats, I piggybacked the wires from the front lights on each side and run under the carpets. I went one step further and fitted genuine Audi A8 LED lights under my front and rear seats, had to make a conversion harness from the 'wide' plug to a narrow one on the front (similar to below) though:

The centre rear of the front seat base, on all Superbs, has a hole for mounting the light unit.

If the light unit was not factory fitted, there is no existing wiring to connect the light. Other posts here in the past have said that you need to tap into the power for the front footwell lights and run the wiring yourself.

I  bought LED lights from AliExpress.

They are little bit bigger, but they fit if you upgrade the socket.
