Rear Parking Sensor System

Featured Replies

The last couple of days, noticed that the rear parking sensor system isn't working - which is a pity because I think its a great system.

It now gives a three second continuous tone when you select reverse.

handbook says this indicates a system fault and to refer to Skoda Dealer (and a huge bill)

Anyone had this and know what it could be ?

You can get DIY parking sensor kits off eBay real cheap so I don't think having a couple replaced at a dealer would be too expensive.

An easy way to check for Sensors was just illustrated by Mike. If it is not the Sensors, get a scan done by a VCDS if you own it or by someone near you who could help you out on this.

If you do find the defective sensor, that is assuming it is a sensor problem, try disconnecting it, cleaning the contacts and then reconnecting it, as sometimes carbon deposited on the contact leads could fail the functioning of the Sensors as has been in my case some time time back.

Hey Mike thanks. Much appreciated - I will check.

Common problem flyerphil

New sensors from TPS are about £85, you can find them cheaper though

A scan with VCDS will tell you the problem, the way Mike said will also highlight a defective sensor

I need to replace one of mine, second one that has failed now

Hi thanks for the feedback.

I went to see Mark this evening (Octimark) and he gave me a VCDS scan and indeed the right rear sensor is faulty. Also found an interior monitoring sensor fault, glow plug on No 1 cylinder fault, and the compressor which I know about - new one on order. Mark also turned off the one door unlock feature - a small thing but much better now.

Thanks Mark for your time this evening. Hope to see you at one of the E Midlands meetings were I can buy you a pint !

Does anyone know if the sensors can be replaced without removing rear bumper ? Mine is an elegance trim, so assume the system came as standard and not an aftermarket fit.

Can you just prise them out and then disconnect and replace ??

Yes I did read somewhere - may have been tech1e - that if you loosen the bolts, you may be able to get hand up in there to release the part.

I just checked for the clicking noises and its the one on the far right. Good to get it fixed. I've never had one before and it makes parking a joy.

See my reply to your PM - the corner ones should be easy to get to if the plastic undertray is removed - no need to remove the bumper. I swapped one of the middle ones without removing the bumper - a bit tight to get to but with perseverance is possible
