60k ;)

Chris

When you recieved the car and drove it for the first time. Never had a bigger smile on my face ever since i drove the car. Was fast then now its slow. No big smiles now :D

Wait till i get a tune up!

I'd say about 2.5k it was pretty loosened up :)

It seemed to improve very significantly after about 1k miles of normal driving

I can honestly say, I feel I noticed precious little difference much after a few thousand miles, other than a 'placebo' effect of expecting it to get better. I think thats one of those things thats really a bit overstated with TDI's.

I read in Autocar ages ago that a car is at its best at 20,000 miles. When i first got my vrs the suspension was quite bouncy on country roads but now it feels perfect.

The main difference was that the fuel consumption has gone down (mpg gone up by at least 5 mpg since new) - it seemed to level at about 1k as said.

Main things were gear box settling in and the brakes, for the rest not a great deal to worry about. Topped up the oil a little at 3.5k, no differences noticed beyond that though.

Mine got better after 10K, but a) It had had an oil change for its 10K service and B) the weather was warming up, which always helps.

If it's anything like my previous Fabia TDI, it will continue to improve until 20K.

if you drive like an idiot - it ain't going to get better at all.

I'd say around 60k myself actually - the gear box takes around 60k to 80k to wear in nicely.. if you change gears at far too high revs and are heavy on the clutch - it's pretty obvious your fabia ain't going to wear in well at all..

but each to their own.

Regards,

when is a furby at its maximum performance? When I'm Driving It

I disagree with that point, every car I have owned to date I tend of ragged endlessly and the performance never suffers, infact I would say muy Fabia is one of the quickest vRS's out there, it seems to have so much power that I can, no joke stay level to !120 with a WRX SportsWagen (Bugeye) from a rolling start, confirmed twice last night with my Dad's mate on the local private track straight, and he is an adept driver himself I must say ;)

One thing I do agree with though is that the engine life, in particular turbo will be reduced, as will the strain on all other components, however im of the school of thought that i'll keep it for 50k then get a new car, that way any problems wont affect me :D

Careful...! remember the rolling road figures that mine kicked out on Jabba rollers and the apparent drop on JBS rollers!!! There is also a chap on SCN (I think) who has a fabia with hybrid turbo, FMIC etc. with over 200 genuine bhp... now that is faster.

Whats he doing on SCN! Get him on here lol

I know a couple of people with Hybrid Furbies on here

I must admit, my vRS seems slower now from when i originally got it!

Its just done 600 miles.

Or is it me just getting used to the power?

To be honest, i fitted a cupra intake about 150miles ago and its seemed slower since then? Like i said, might just be because im getting more used to it?

I know what your saying but mine genuinly does seem extremly rapid, ok maybe not lighting quick but certainly "nearly" enough...

Strangely enough, thats one of the few things in this thread I agree with. Performance for the first few thousand miles could have been better, and it improved up to that point, but the suspension and brakes in particular got much better with age, IMHO.

Disagree in some respects, the engine will be looser if you give it some beans now and again rather than babying it.
