smoke on startup

Featured Replies

I get some white, funky smelling smoke on startup. Only when cold, after standing the night.. What's wrong or is it normal? The car runs like a dream with all horses and torque intact!!

oil could be leaking past the valve stem rubbers into the cylinders when the engine cools down so when you start in the morning the engine blows the oil out, thats why it only does it first thing.

My vrs does this, isit a bad thing?

maybe one glowplug down

its not that bad just a sign of a bit of age the rubber stem seals go a bit hard from the constant heat and let a bit of oil past when the engine cools down

Interesting read as the car I have just bought is doing this.... potentially ok as is and keep an eye on it, or needs attention?

56k. new turbo / camshaft / injectors fitted...

Thanks
